The art of attrition: how they wear us down

Let’s list all the attrition tactics they’ve thrown at us so far. PIP has to be the crown jewel - nothing says 'we value you' like a months-long, soul-draining performance circus. I’d also nominate 'lack of perspective' as the soft attrition MVP. What else have you seen?

@OP so many levels on attrition. Just take LT. the disengagement ki-ls of the management. Their buddies run free. Also don’t forget you maybe getting ranked against the guy. Also it’s 3 months of the year working on the juvenile ranking.

@a2 that is so true! I was just at OILF and was told by a Country Manager that Exxon sees what I do for the company and that Exxon appreciates it and values me and then right after that I received my ranking and was dropped all the way down to NSI. Thank you ExxonMobil for valuing me and appreciating what I do for the Company. NSI was such a great way to show me that gratitude you (XOM) has rewarded me with. I would hate to see what Exxon Managers tell others that are actually lower performing employees. Nothing like a swift kick in the a$$ and a NSI does to a person who thought they were doing great by listening to their supervisors and the supervisors of the supervisors. In the past, I knew exactly where I stood throughout the year by communicating with my supervisor and at ranking time there were no surprises because I already knew from conversations with my supervisor where I stood either I knew I was going to be ranked at the same rank or go up or down one but never have I thought they would finesse me with praise and then drop my rank all the way to NSI, no stopping at NI just straight to NSI. You are ExxonMobil (YAEM) not WAEM. Shove that PIP up your a$$es. Thank you for your service. Rant over!

Having a great team building event telling everyone how valuable they are right before performance reviews where the whole team is dumped on.
