Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel will cancel 14A and following nodes if it can't win a major external customer — move would cede leading-edge nodes to TSMC and Samsung

Intel turning into Global Foundries who stopped all leading edge development and laid off the RnD team.

Intel should stop telling lies in every management layer. Dishonesty is the reason for Intel’s failure.

If Intel is a small car to run, do not tell a lie that you can fly to the moon.

@a2 that would just ki-l TSMC and let China win. Do not underestimate the destructive force of intel useless people. They are more than dead weights. They actively make PowerPoint slides and meetings to such time from people doing actual work, and to su-k all resources from working folks.

@a6 where have you been the military spending is around $900 billion. The government tried subsidizing the semi industry and Intel still ended up where it is.

Intel ceded the tech lead when it missed smartphones.
TSMC is what it is today because of Apple, Qualcomm and Mediatek pushing the leading edge with huge volumes.

Intel could not keep up the pace of investment necessary because PC/server volumes peaked about 10-15 years ago.

As smartphone volumes are now peaking, a new application (AI) is propelling TSMC into the stratosphere with a new era of growth.

intel ceded the leading edge tech to tsmc/samsung about a decade ago. then sohail spent 3 years telling everyone that intel was still in the lead (when all data says it wasn't) instead of actually doing his job. that was when intel ceded the tech lead, this is just admitting intel will never get it back.

This means the US will never ever have the lead again in advanced semiconductor manufacturing.
But let’s spend nearly a trillion dollars every year on defense budget.

IBM paid Global Foundries to take over its fabs in East Fishkill and Burlington. The same may now happen to Intel. Pay someone to takeover the fabs that are worthwhile to operate.

@OP What is telling is that all those "announcements" from MediTek, Amazon, Microsoft, NSA/US Gov't... were just fake. LBT basically admitted there are ZERO real customers for IFS in the foreseeable future (that's not a captive customer named Intel Products). The whole IFS/TMG organization needs to be fired. The should just merge with Global Foundries and let that management take over everything, or donate about $5B shares to Trump, and force TSMC into a shotg-n wedding wedding with IFS/TMG, which TSMC would have 100% control, and decision making.
