I've not met a single competent CHC person. That company orchestrated the greatest breach in the health care industry history and now they are entrenched in Optum. Not a single leader that's got a clue. The employees are yes yes yes drones and the Security teams are clueless.

CHC management was responsible for the decision to skip MFA on the vulnerable systems. Optum security management accepted their argument and allowed the waiver.
Eventually with CHC management being put into leadership in security, they continued the waiver they were basically the original requestors for.
That's odd because I haven't met a single optum employee that was competent. CHC was so much better
Man are you clueless! Everyone knows Optum only purchased CHC for their clearinghouse (to be able to obtain information about other payers), their technology and advanced employee knowledge! CHC had brilliant engineers, developers, staff and products that Optum systematically destroyed.
All big companies have their issues but, overall CHC was a good company to work for. I cannot say I liked most of the senior leaders but, at least we were made to feel valued, heard and rewarded for jobs well done! Optum has NEVER made an employee feel that way, none that I know anyway. Optum continues to lie, withhold transparency to employees of their intentions and treat CHC customers like cr-p and with complete disregard for their many years of business together. It makes me sick when I hear or see how the CHC clients are being treated. Shameful!
CHC never had any issues with security but, not having an MFA on a certain server, which happened to also be the server the CHC claims/payments were transmitted through, which Optum was VERY aware of for over a year and CHOSE to do nothing about speaks loudly to the fact the Optum had a hand in allowing the attack to happen and would not be surprised if they weren’t also involved in making it happen. They received BILLIONS from cyber insurance to cover their costs, employee salaries, etc. and very little was paid directly by the company. Anyone that says different is lying. Well, maybe what they paid the hackers not to sell the PHI they obtained came from company funds, I am not sure about that. I cannot believe that amount was even paid on the “word” of the hackers they would not sell the PHI if they were paid…then released/sold it to other hackers anyway. That just proves how stupid Optum leadership and stakeholders are!
The purchase of CHC should have never been allowed to go through! Optum was told they MUST keep their UHG electronic claims/payments separate from CHC to avoid them gaining information that could give them an advantage over other payers yet after the smoke cleared from the cyber attack the first thing they did was reroute this electronic data through Optum!
I am grateful to still have a job seeing how bad the job market is out there now but, it definitely gets harder to login and keep a positive attitude every day.
I was there when the hack happened brought in (im optum). I continue supporting chc related activities, it is a complete sh-tshow. The leadership is the worst I have encountered and I have dealt with many accuired entities. The leadership and employees do not match the optum culture. The leadership lacks any sort of connection or trust from their employees.
I would never work for those leaders even if they paid me double my current salary.
The way I understand it. My paycheck said OPTUM for over a year before the cyber attack. Don't blame the adopted son for taking the car when it was your biological son that tossed him the keys. You are still responsible!
The breach would have bankrupt CHC. Yet, they come in thinking they are not Optum. We must conform to their ways. Until they cull every CHC leader out of Optum, moral and the work environment will not improve. Worst acquisition Optum has ever made. Hands down.
This is an example of correlation being confused with causation.
You understand CHC was 3b in debt when they took on Mckesson doubling their debt. Then Neil found a su---r to pay 13b for it all.
It’s obvious that the original poster is clueless and an id--t.
or it could just be the CHC who got layoff sold the password to the hacker. Just guessing
Using RDP into a server with no MFA and simple password is not Robust InfosSec. But UNH allowing that to continue is just as bad.
UHG acquired CHC in October 2022; the “hack” happened Feb 2024, nearly 1.5 years later. Between those two dates, many, many good CHC employees were RIFed.
A good number of those laid off were long time employees with the institutional knowledge to keep it all running. Safely. Never hacked before. Robust InfosSec. That was all lost in the UHG/Optum layoffs which severely impacted many CHC employees who were exceptional workers. It was only when the CHC folks were long gone that this “hack” happened, all on the watch of UHG/Optum. They had well over a year to make sure the healthcare data of American citizens were secure but this company had other desires and chose instead to get rid of the excellent (translation = higher paid) workers. This is not too difficult to understand and anyone can fact check this. You get what you pay for, right?
Bottom line is if you work for this outfit you’re not “safe” especially if you have talent.
Truth.
UHG bought CHC purposely left system(s) on that network vulnerable before added security measures were implemented and then LET it be hacked. UHG is the problem. Go look it up.
I didn’t say CHC hacked themselves! Learn to read mo--n! UHG did the hacking! The writing is on the wall. There are just as good people on the CHC side as UHG Optum side. The problem is the money filled greed people. And those with rose colored glasses that are haters like you spewing hate
How did you know CHC hacked themselves? You morherfcker is making things up ya dummmy…
If anyone is making any money AT ALL they cannot have that, why they buy out any healthcare companies making any money, feds are like you’re too big, and BBB wow YES they so are too big, especially considering they give not a shizz aside from themselves . Sometimes even massively productively positive companies. I worked at one once that was the best job ever doing the best possible service to the patient ever, assuredly they do nothing and care nothing about any of that and dismantled it, and many of us now are on the street. The amazingness of the best service ever that actually gave them a multiple time reimbursement on investment. It’s like they don’t care, the people at the top are like a bunch of stoned monkeys, making decisions, that make no sense whatsoever, ignoring any positive income, let’s just cut some more providers so we can keep this yacht party going. Any real investors that want some seriously amazing people, let me know. Lol; apologies you will have to publish as we still need our jobs cause mortgage.
UHG = The Black&Decker Brand Wrecker
You are CLUELESS….keep on drinking the koolaid! UHG has always been a joke and always will. Can’t blame it on CHC. They bought the company for the clearinghouse and tech, then hacked it themselves to get rid of a shitload of employees. They are as dirty l-wlife as they come and only care about the almighty $$$$$$$$
