Thread regarding Optum layoffs

How to push back on offshoring. It's working.

Recently, A lot of the projects we have completed have been offshored. I. Know this is happening all over and many have felt helpless.

I recently called out this practice, by simply notifying compliance that I am aware of this happening.

What happened? An entire Ireland security audit has been kicked off. It is a massive initiative now.

In addition, I did the same thing with another product that an entire team in India was created to support.

1 week later, that entire team in India has been removed from that workspace and onshore employees reassigned.

Seriously people, if you know it's happening, report it to compliance. They are on-shore and on your side

I can’t speak about Optum’s Ireland but Ireland will offshore to eastern block nation. This was one of the Optum investment companies doing it with Ireland based employees. Optum knew this company was doing it but turned a blind eye with paper based audit. Basically if you say so, you must be telling the truth. They want to make the $$ on the backs of u.s privacy.

Yes. No matter what anybody says Optum will continue to move your private healthcare information offshore without batting an eye. Even if your insurance company or your state Medicaid plan forbids it!

A joke. Compliance is a joke and does whatever they want anyways. You’d be surprised.

To the OP good on you, this company is breaking the law or at least contractual regulations! You did the right thing and that’s rare in a self serving organization full of cronyism.

Looks like if you want a reliable job with an American company and be afforded good healthcare coverage I should consider moving to Ireland.
What a freaking joke!!
I hope shareholders sue them into oblivion.

The cheap labor proposition draws execs to outsource. It's nothing more than cheap labor. The fact that it's a risk is of no consequence. by the time risk becomes reality, those execs have moved on to higher places where they can fu-k up somebody elses company.

@a3+1jtrfq3kt I recently had a senior VP in Ireland, tell my senior director that she was lucky to have a senior director role because those are going to be reserved for Ireland employees.

Why should healthcare decisions for America rest in the hands of Irish citizens?

@a2+1jtrfq3kt Ireland doesn't have 2 billion people willing to work for bottom dollar pay, has people that can effectively communicate with Americans, and those people don't see you as an other group they have to systematically replace by getting into management and replacing all of their reports with Irish employees.

Ireland is also an issue. Offshoring to Ireland is taking jobs away from Americans working at an American company that sells Americans a product. You can’t pick and choose which offshoring is more moral

RCMEE is full Offshore and they are continue to reduce onshore. All offshore has PII and PHI Access. everyone is just ignoring those contracts and compliance.
