I see people who seem genuinely happy with their work to this day and I don't get it. I can't imagine waking up and feeling that way in the new Dell. I used to feel that way years ago, but so much has changed that now I'm just showing up and counting down the hours most days.

I'm in that place where I like the work that I do as long as I can get away with doing it the way we did before Dell put all their arbitrary and nonsensical processes into place. The problem is that for many years now my pay raises haven't matched inflation. In one or two more years I will not be able to afford to work for Dell and keep my house.
And I can bet any amount of money you’re not actively applying to other jobs
That’s why it’s called WORK. if it was fun, it would be called LEISURE.
Your only goal is to get paid. Do you think roofers working in 100 degree heat are having fun? No. Do a task, get paid. That’s how WORK works.
Big difference between hating your JOB and hating the company...
Not everyone in here hates their job, or even Dell for that matter.
EVERY company has it's flaws and things you disagree with or whatever but, trust me on this... the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
If you like your job at Dell but hate the company, that's reasonable. But realistically most companies actually DO operate in similar ways as Dell does.
My dad always said that if you hate your job 3 out of 5 days, then look elsewhere.
A job is a job though. Some people love their job, others HATE it but for those who hate it, it's their literal means to pay the bills and survive.
Most jobs su-k, or at minimum have things that SU-K but that's just a job. EVERY job has it's cons but to make a post like this is comical because there is no such thing as a perfect job.
If it pays well enough and it supports your life(style) then people put up with the negatives and deal with it like adults. If it doesn't pay the bills or whatever then, they look elsewhere and will 100% run into similar issues at new company.
6 years in and I do still love my job. I have no complaints about my job or manager, those I work with, or the work that I do. I DO have complaints with the COMPANY though!
It's hard to hate a job that allows me to WFH 30 hours/week. To hate a job that allows me to play video games while I work from home, take naps, walk my dog, etc... while being paid mid 6 figure salary lol.
Yeah sure, I could find a higher paying job but I'd have to go to an office 8 hours/day. No thank you.
@a1 Speaking of 401k dissolve its Dell’s 401k! Dell is being sued for improperly handling of mutual funds as they are cr-p and didn’t produce results compared similar mutual funds.
Gotta let that sh-t go.
@a1 play the game
well, some of us realize that to have a job is a blessing at this point. There are alot of folks unemployed, burning through their savings and quite frankly, watching their 401(k) dissolve before their eyes. If you have a job, feel blessed, even if you hate it. You do not want to be on the other side unless you're financially stable. The job market is not very good. Milk it if you have to...but do what you can to keep it. You will thank me later.
