Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Reminder to cancel your Verizon services if you're impacted!

Petty? Yes. Hear me out though.

My 1 line, phone and watch was running up the score gradually on my bill. About $98 a month or so. Without the employer discount, my bill is now going to be $170! Give me a break. Even if there's no magical ethical carrier, stop giving your money to this corporation.

You get to keep the discount for a year after termination FWIW. Not sure what happens if you got new phones that you're paying for at a discounted rate.

Only su-kers buy from the big 3 carriers. Anyone who cares about value buys the same exact service from the MVNOs who use the same network.

I pay $25 a month on Consumer Cellular, which used to use T-Mobile, but now uses AT&T.

The only reason people buy from the big-3 is they've been su-kered into thinking it's "premium service" through branding and advertising.

@a2 isn’t that the crux of the issue… if viable is DIY online for $25… and VZ is double or three times that, with customer care and support, but support is in India… thus no support…

No shame in that — I cut ALL my Verizon services when I was let go and haven’t looked back.

My advice... switch to Mint Mobile. They offer $15/mo for first 3 months, then $25/mo. It's on T-Mobile's network which is much better coverage. I signed up for a 1-year promotion at $15/mo for 12 months last year and never regretted it. If they offer a 1-year pay in advance similarly this year, take it!

Verizon's plan, even for those of us that are former employee, is high even with the 25% discount.

@a2 Owned by Verizon. I'd say yes under any circumstance but go elsewhere.

@a1 That's what I did. Went to T-mobile, they paid off my phone and I have been in bliss ever since with T-mobile with savings even more than with employee discount.

Or switch to Visible, $25/month for 5 yrs, unlimited data.

I want to also amend that you can get other carriers to pay off outstanding payment plans. Wink wink nudge nudge
