Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

No more DEI. YAY

I know many will dislike this post, but I really do not care. I am glad Verizon is dropping all DEI initiatives and going back to merit-based practices. Good luck to everyone tomorrow. Even if we don't get a call tomorrow, I have no doubt more are on the way.

Ah yes, the classic ‘DEI hire makes my coffee’ joke — straight from the 1998 Comedy Central reject pile.

Imagine being so chronically online and terminally unfunny that you reduce an entire role — whose entire function is to stop your workplace from being a HR lawsuit waiting to happen — to barista duty.

Bro… DEI wasn’t there to make your coffee.
They were there to make sure people like you didn’t turn the office into a hostile environment every time you opened your mouth.

But hey, keep coping. Maybe now that they’re gone, you can finally live your dream of being the spiciest guy in the break room.

I'm gonna miss our DEI hire. They were vital to the success of our team.
Who's gonna make our coffee now?

@c9 ‘Let’s be honest… DEI was never about helping anyone.’
Bro, let’s actually be honest for a second…DEI was created because corporations kept getting sued for discriminating against people. It’s not some secret plot to ‘damage’ anyone, it’s literally the bare minimum attempt to stop companies from hiring the same five dudes who all play golf together and calling it a workforce.

You’re acting like DEI is the reason people struggle, when the real problem is the trillion-dollar corporations laying off workers while executives pocket bonuses big enough to buy small islands. DEI didn’t outsource jobs. DEI didn’t freeze wages. DEI didn’t cut benefits. Your CEO did that. The board did that. Wall Street did that.

And the idea that DEI ‘ostracizes’ the people it’s meant to help is wild when the people screaming the loudest about it are the ones who were never going to be helped by it anyway. It’s like someone complaining that a wheelchair ramp is ‘excluding’ them because they prefer stairs.

If DEI were actually the giant, omnipotent force you think it is, it wouldn’t be the first thing cut the moment a company needs to save five dollars.

The only scam here is convincing workers that the biggest threat to their livelihood is a diversity seminar instead of the executives who are literally preparing their layoff packets.

Let's be honest... DEI at Verizon (or any company) is not, has not, and never was going to be about helping the underprivileged, poor, or destitute. It's a scam designed to damage and ostracize the very people it's claiming to help.

You id--t…imagine celebrating the end of DEI while your company is literally gearing up to lay you off. Like, you’re out here cheering for ‘merit-based practices’ at the exact moment a telecom giant is about to spin a roulette wheel with your job on it.

Merit-based according to who? The same executives who ran the place into the ground?

DEI isn’t the reason companies mismanage budgets or don’t meet quarterly earnings — but every time there’s uncertainty, some people cannot wait to blame the lowest-impact program designed to help marginalized groups get a foothold in corporate America.

Also: none of you were complaining about ‘merit’ when the C-suite was pulling in millions while workers got scraps.

Posting ‘YAY’ about dismantling DEI while layoffs are looming is like celebrating that the fire alarm stopped working… while the kitchen is burning down.

You "do not care" because you know your views are regurgitated to you. You WOULD care if you actually learned what DEI actually is.
