Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

5 days RTO is clearly a soft layoff strategy

Pre covid nearly 65% of Dell employees were remote, and cut to 2025 expecting all hybrid employees + remote within 1 hour commute to be in the office is either a bad judgement or a clever way of frustrating the employees.. I think it’s the later..

What MD doesn’t realise is that working in an organization that is constantly reducing headcount and lacks stability can be very challenging for employees. It creates uncertainty, lowers morale, reduces trust in leadership, and can lead to burnout as remaining employees often have to take on additional responsibilities.

MD: If you can provide voluntary separation for employees in Europe, why not extend the same courtesy to folks in America and APJ countries? If you can happily give a cash out exit to your execs why not for others..? Maybe you are a billionaire and you have weaved your hair to look younger and say all smart things, but you don’t qualify to be a human being as you don’t have the decency to treat your employees with basic respect.. are you able to see yourself in the mirror? Are you able go sleep peacefully in the night? It doesn’t take a lot to be decent, you don’t even need to grow a pair, it can’t be done by simply showing empathy.

Banks cannot afford a corporate real estate bust. This is why you are forced to commute 4 hours round trip to sit on virtual calls. Billionaire investments must be protected by the middle class standard of living dropping every moment.

Are you able go sleep peacefully in the night?

100% yes
The only people can't sleep is you and no skill employee

Why not offer VSP with half the incentive components of WFR? Are labor laws present in major headcount states like TX, TN and MA that would restrict it?

They won't offer VSPs.
There would literally be a stampede out the door.

Yes. The latest force to office is aimed directly at remotes

They are trying to fortify the on-site people and hires before chopping off big chunks of remaining remotes.

MD thinks he's getting some cute press in the Boston area. No mention about the constant headcount churn trainwreck we've all be witnessing last 3+ years.
