Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Can't accept it's done

Our team was already affected and we were told the rest of us are safe for now, but I'm having trouble believing anything our manager has to say. I just can't. I won't be able to properly relax until the week is over, if even then. I'm getting so tired of Intel's cr-p.

Can we assume this is your first rodeo? Sounds like your team got sc--wed, but you have an opportunity to look for a better job, while you have a job. Consider yourself lucky, but take action. It should feel like working 2 jobs now, until you find the next one

Your job is safe, but you're not.
It's just a matter of time before you burn out from taking on the responsibilities of people who left while also being permanently tasked with training all the replacements who will either leave or get promoted above you as soon as you are done training them.

I have been a GL10 PE for 4 years and still no promotion. I wonder if it's just me

My suggestion is don't get too comfortable with the false assumption that you are now safe. This was just one of the many waves that will come. Sooner or later your name will come up. Until that inevitable end arrives, the best thing you can do for yourself is to acquire new skills while Intel is still paying for your bills. Allocate time to look for new opportunities outside. Schedule interviews and sharpen your skills in job hunting. Try to leave Intel at a position of power rather than because you are told to. I can assure you when you do that, your managers will make offers you couldn't have imagined to keep you. If you are a PE, they will try to promote you to Senior PE just like that. You will then realize the extent of illusion we have been led to believe called "career progression" at Intel.

Stop worrying @OP. Nothing you can do at this point. If you don't hear by tomorrow you should be safe

I have a team of 8. 2 took VSP. 2 quit months ago (bad choice). Just 4 now before the ISP announcement. Should be interesting but they fired entire teams in 2016 so I don't trust them to make angood choice

This is not the same Intel like 20 years ago. Many talents have left and more will.
