Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Toxic Culture

Why is the work culture so toxic here? Too many SVPs and Directors get on calls to overtalk everyone else. They refuse to absorb useful information and resist ideas that aren't theirs. Citi is doing something wrong if these are the types selected to be C14s and C15s.

Ofc it's a toxic culture. Higher ups pretend to care and do not. I think the higher you go the less people care. It's all for optics which is unfortunate and expected here.

So many good people pushed out by higher level incompetent directors, because the directors felt threatened….no wonder things aren’t improving- things CAN’T improve with so much incompetence ..

A lot of Ds and MDs are just here to collect a paycheck and pretend to manage, just BS their way out of meetings, regurgitate higher directives, disappear after that, approve their direct reports time off.

Nobody is looking at improving anything.

Nothing is going to happen as long as your company is bloated with overpaid Sleepy middle management that has been snoozing through their existence in the bank for several decades protecting their cash cow.

Let the little folks bite at each other over crumbs and fight over DEI and performance reviews.

It’s a toxic culture, people work 25 years some even in the same role! No one believes on transformation , its no wonder the company is never top of its league. Sweatshop culture and many Ds and MDs do nothing . Sadly some good ones left and many incapable ones still around

It might be nice if India created its own new companies and products.
That way the management in India could replace its Indian workers with americans.
Sigh, for some reason 1.4 billion people can't do that.

Post ID: @OP+1srsx2Oi To the OP: You're just now realizing this ??? Maybe you're a new hire with less than 3 years tenure. It's the Citi way = Cititoxic Culture. This is why Citi is in the H3LLH0LE it dug itself into. The Real Banks, JPMC, GS, BofA, Barclays, etc. are Kicking Citi's A$$ and shoveling the Dirt to bury Citi into the H0LE Citi dug for itself for Citi's nonexistence. LOL! Citi will soon be only a Footnote in History and Financial History!

"Ummm. That post about DEI and foreigners… definitely a rant. Just pathetic! Get over yourselves!"

Hmm, it sounds like the americans aren't happy with the lower standard of living, less opportunities, more corruption, overall lower standards, and more wealth in the hands of corrupt clowns. That's weird. I thought they would like going from 1st world to 3rd world.

I can tell you for sure that theres only ONE person on my team working on something of value. My manager and my other 5 co-workers are just paper pushers and constantly have to look for things to do in order to appear busy. Sure we get some work but it’s not enough for 5 people. Often times we bump heads because one person is afraid they will lose their job and steals work just to look like they are needed. My manager is absolutely not needed! She does absolutely no work other than sit in on meetings and approve vacation time and sick time. I don’t think this re-org is working because I still see people working who have nothing to do.

This is not a rant about ‘DEI or foreigners’…..

No company has a pure meritocracy. It’s all in networking. Ranting about DEI and foreigners isn’t going to change that.

"I can confirm that this is not the case in other top firms."
it's the same everywhere in the us more or less
cheap foreigners and dei
if we had a pure meritocracy that was not attached to a magical printing press
a lot of these folks would have been dismissed in order for the company to survive

The only ones that talk over me happen to all be from the same country that is not the U.S.

The lack of integrity I’ve observed from senior managers over the last few years has been horrifying…keeps sinking lower. If it wasn’t for fear of regulators, no integrity at all would be evident from many managers. Agree with these posts.

No. Don’t post names. If you do, the company will subpoena this job board and eventually find out names, locations.

Not a good idea!

That’s always been the case. Anyone above your grade is expected to override whatever anyone else says. Their decision is final, no questions. I was under a very toxic SVP until luckily she left the company. Sadly the toxic environment didn’t stop there though. Every management above me had the same attitude of ‘Do as I say’ never taking into consideration suggestions or new ideas. I finally didn’t care anymore and stopped doing anything productive and stuck to bare minimum just to keep my job. I checked out of my job a long time ago because of that and the toxic people managers.
Should we start posting names???

I can confirm that this is not the case in other top firms. Citi is a pretty bureaucratic/hierarchical place. Sad really. I am planning to change companies because of that. Too much brown-nosing.
