Thread regarding Optum layoffs

This company in a nutshell

Things are definitively better elsewhere. This company is too darn big. Don't really think they care much about the employees along with the other nonsense related to building a better healthcare system etc. They seem to really not care too much about the human aspect as they continually deny coverage; a patient can die waiting for an appeal.

They really care a whole lot about buying out competitors to increase their profits, line their pockets and decrease competition. They acquire, cut people, cut products, grab data, use that to monopolize the market and thereby increase profits which increase shareholder value. Plain and Simple. They are out to be the biggest and richest but not the best (as they continue to think in their heads). The end game is increasing shareholder value and their own wealth. Employees are the tools that they use and abuse to get where they want to go their own way.

Couldn’t agree more, @2hla+1qMwnKmC. Great dissection.

This post is spot on!! Optum does not care about their employees, clients, consumers, communities! You are 100% CORRECT! They are CORRUPT, sick and dirty! They are trying to stream roll and take over the whole health care system and it’s not right. They aren’t worth a damn penny. Their business practices are unethical. Unfair. I just.

To poster 6zqu+1qPKa4PD, what an ignorant and entitled comment. People have families., bills, loans to manage. It may not stem from fear as much as what other companies are currently hiring? Many of us have been trying for months to secure a new job. If you are so bold and courageous, why don’t you divulge what new companies are currently hiring with comparable salaries?

Yep. Its why I left. Everyone there is scared to look elsewhere. I was so shocked with how complacent people are there.

Optum/UHG should be viewed as a stepping stone and not a career. Especially if you do not know anyone there or have connections.

Spot on assessment of Optum!!!! They do not care one bit about their enrollees or employees. They are simply pawns in their health care domination crusade.

The employee and employer relationship should be viewed as a business. They get work from you and you get a salary. If the employee starts to feel that it’s not equitable, it’s ok to move on. There are a ton of reasons why employees stay be it compensation, stability, or gaining skills for the next job. But once you find you are no longer feeling fulfilled, time to move on. Moving on could look like different things from a new position to a new company.
