I identified a team I would like to join once I complete 1 year anniversary at Google. I had an informational conversation with a team member and new manager.
Questions:
- Upon transferring to this new team, is my potential new manager going to speak on the phone with my current manager about my performance?
- Is the performance what I see available transparently in GRAD, or is that a confidential rating or comments available only to managers?
I am confident about my performance, but since I have seen a horror story when trying to transfer teams at given FAANG before, I would like to understand if managers may sc--w employees once they attempt to switch teams.
