Pattern I have observed from forums, internal news and friends from other divisions is, slow small layoffs,(sometime big), across different BU/division at regular intervals.
Layoffs across divisions has a shorter interval, currently its around 1.5 months to 2 months. This may be lower as I might not have all the news about layoffs.
Teams those are recently impacted does not see another one for a longer time yet the cycle repeats at longer intervals. The interval in my team has been around 13 months and most impact in US only, later replaced by cheaper resource elsewhere but never a single replacement in US.
All this is to ensure these number remain small and not highlighted in media. Back in days when there was a massive one, ORCL got a very bad reputation and impacted bottom line significantly. Since then it has been slow small layoffs at regular intervals
I hate to say it, I survived 6-7 layoffs but I have to manage good terms with my boss and work like he-l all the time. Please do not judge me, I have family to take care. am just one of like you. I know lot of good people were let go coz they have their own voice, and were certainly better than me.
I tried to raise my voice diplomatically but failed as others were not supportive, so in a way employees themselves are working against each other by not being united and work towards a better work-life and ethics.
