Need to unpack this communication further. So let me get this straight it seemed the rumors were that the main corporate campus building 200 wilmot road was in contract to be sold. We moved out months ago and everything was turned off to prep for the sale. Now they open their mouths and want everyone in person 3 mandatory days per week but don’t have the space in the 104, 106, 108 wilmot buildings so now they are “working to get back into the 200 building”. Well this isn’t rocket science if the building was under a sale contract to be sold then I am assuming this is going to cost buco bucks to get out of the contract. What happens if the company that was under contract turns around abs sues is for breach of contract? Was it not made crystal clear that all construction, travel, and other spend was strictly on hold? Now we have money again? I’d like my merit increase that I got screwed out of again this year before they spend money recklessly again. Why are they so he-l bent to get everyone back 3 days per week? Dint get me wrong I don’t want to go back at all but I think people would be much more open to going back 1 day per week on the day of your choosing. Have they forgotten how expensive gas costs? Most support team members don’t live close to Deerfield and have at least a 25 min plus commute. This is all so on par with the sh-t show that continues to play out. They don’t care at all- keep lying to your employees the more you lie, the more enraged we all become. Quit the bull sh-t and start treating us with some respect and common decency. The leaders and he are completely out of touch with reality. Nothing changes.

Y'all are silly. Neither this, nor any decision has anything to do with you or your ability to work. The city, like many cities are doing, probably offered them tax breaks based on how many people they can get out of their house and spending money again. The gas, the lunches, the work clothes are part of a plan, not an unforseen consequence.
Crazy how WFH is suddenly an entitlement. Find a job that let's you WFH and or pays you more. You probably won't because Walgreens pays most corp jobs too much. And bonuses given out like candy. They are sinking. Leadership is filled with the "Bozo Explosion" that Guy Kawasaki wrote about. So many internal promos that were not deserved. Before you jump on me, I was there 22 years...I'm happy where I am. Not bitter. Just calling it as I see it.
Dont know why you are complaining so much. The peons that work in the stores have to put up with all the criminals and all the nasty folks. The stores are disgustingly dirty and the bathrooms are even worse.
Some people will not want to go back in so this is an easy way to get some people to quit on their own including those who are considering retiring or leaving. It also provides the opportunity to more closely monitor the staff to verify 100%+ is being given during working hours. Micromanaging is part of the company culture.
It is very reasonable to request a hybrid work schedule. Employees wanted this pre-Pandemic and had to work on this, for years, to get it. Still, In some areas, it was frowned on so take the hybrid workplace as a win post pandemic.
Is the post office building site going to close down? After 200 and 300 series buildings sell, will they lease them back and have downtown workers move to Deerfield as a cost cutting measure?
Gas prices are high because of all the money we are printing to send to the new forever wars. We had very cheap gas just three years ago. That opportunity for cheap gas will be presented to you next November. Choose wisely.
My favorite part is that some of Amanda Quintons special friends in other departments got chairs and monitors for free! Now they are having to buy more $300 chairs and $200 monitors. Classic Walgreens move. I left several months ago because it’s so political there and a bunch of people that think they are good at their jobs but the only reason they are in their positions because they are ba----g an exec or have been there for ages.
Learned that the 200 building was completely gutted to prep for the sale. There were multiple dumpsters in the back loading area FILLED with all the office chairs and other equipment. So much for a company that brags that they are so environmentally sustainable. Even if they can get us back into the 200 building they got rid of everything!!!! Where is the outrage here? You can’t give us a merit increase at all, you cry that the company is in such a bad situation financially, people are happy and very productive at home yet you are going to have to spend god knows how much to re order all new office chairs, desks, monitors. Something is VERY VERY wrong. Alarm bells should be ringing non stop for every single support office team member.
"Why are they so he-l bent to get everyone back 3 days per week?"
The CEO Tim is just copying Meta, Tesla, Amazon, etc. He thinks it will increase innovation. yesterday said that Walgreens is going to be like a 'startup culture'. Personally if you think a big company should be acting like a startup, it means you are going out of business.
Second, they want to force people out and quit instead of laying them off and paying severance.
CVS is doing the same thing with hybrid scheduling. Monitoring badge swipes and all. Good knows what else. Lots of pressure. It’s to try and get employees to quit so they don’t get more bad press for layoffs. And when you get in the buildings half the equipment is gone and most of the rest broken. Good luck to everyone.
