This thread is dedicated to the 8/3 layoffs. Please post as you, or team members you know, are notified so there is awareness for others. It will be great to understand the overall pillars and teams that have staff being let go. A similar post will be created each Wednesday since the layoffs are on Thursdays (for the most part).

If you are older and more knowledgeable than your manager, you will be seen as a threat, instead of an asset and resource for the team. They will look to get rid of you. Pretty sad.
The research team cut 2 researchers today which is 10%.
Confirmed cuts in OH marketing today. Those cut were told shortly before mandatory meeting w/ leadership for those who survived.
Had the last-minute mandatory meeting today. ~10% of our department in Optum Life Sciences got cut. This was in addition to some cuts from the last round. Those affected were spread across roles, tenure, and grade levels.
I was told directly from a VP that UHG will be cutting 10-15% of employees throughout the year. Obviously they e already cut some starting back in March. This will go on all year
Performance doesn’t matter. If you are too old, make too much, pose a threat to leadership, you’re out. Dont stay too long either because then you are a target. Better to replace experience with cheaper labor, burn them out, and go onto the next crop of victims. That is the real mission of this disappointment of sn organization.
@1kbm+1nUF4Ilu where did you read this?
I read that UHG is cutting 27% of workforce
Usually 11am-ish
I heard delayed.
What time of day do they usually start having these meetings? I have a town hall scheduled from 10am to 11am ET, and wasn't sure how this fits in with a big RIF occurring on the same day.
The people making the cuts are the ones who should be cut! No loyalty to hard work, they drop you like a hot potato and never respond to you again. Good riddance to this organization. I hope they all experience this type of coldness at some point. Everyone is just a number, including leadership. Don’t get too comfy…
And what do you expect the media is going to do about/for the situation? It's not like it's the first time it's ever happened (and it won't be the last). It's the nature of corporate America.
Media contact and coverage needed of this urgently.
Some maybe delayed because it's rolling layoffs as it's been all year. Some will occur 8/3 ND I'm sure others delayed for other depts, etc etc
If you heard it's delayed then you are scared to face it. It's coming tomorrow and it's coming strong. Lot of unexpected people will be out of job.
I heard delayed…
I doubt anyone will get early invites. They usually drop the invite within 30m-1h before scheduled. Some have only had a 15m notice of the meeting. It usually is worded as “mandatory” or similar phrasing.
Who will be left to do the work? Better start putting the 26 req out there!
Did anyone get the dreaded calendar invite yet?!😱
I heard constant layoffs spread out between now and the rest of the year. Nobody should feel safe.
20 percent cut in Optum Tech. Distributed teams getting hit hard with more workload being moved offshore.
I heard cuts will be deep!
