Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

When Q was in growth Mode

When Q was in growth mode:

  1. there were no H1B employees
  2. Bagels were free on Friday
  3. lunches were free
  4. people could become millionaire off of stock options
  5. Nokia was the biggest mobile phone maker in the world
  6. iPhone didn’t exist
  7. Android didn’t exist
  8. blackberry was leading edge tech company
  9. Palm pilot was leading edge technology
  10. Jacobs the son was still an intern attending Berkeley

It’s been a long time since Q was minting new millionaires.

Irwin treated every employee as valuable to its mission. Not so much post Irwin.

When companies start shifting heavily to H1Bs, it’s always the death of innovation.

Some people always claim that H1Bs are innovative, but if that were true, why is their native country overpopulated, polluted, racist, misogynistic, and poor as cr-p with no sign of worthwhile innovation or no potential future?

The only thing being imported is failure.

Your reading comprehension appears to be terrible. I am not arguing anything. I am showing facts. People are insinuating things about the facts …. And I am pointing out how silly insinuating any point would be silly. The Woke generation appears to making anything woke

OP listed 10 points, but replies argue on H1b only. It’s always easy to blame and criticize others, and avoid your own failures. Nah…

H1Bs are valuable in today’s business model. The list only reflects what Qualcomm was when it was a leading edge tech company minting new millionaires from regular workers. No one is suggesting anything just pointing out facts. There are businesses that brought on H1Bs and stayed leading edge Qualcomm is not one of them. One could say - are you saying Jocobs the son ruined the company for graduating. Are you saying blackberry caused Qualcomm to fail?

@fws, they retired happily. Big difference between left and retired.

The list isn’t suppose to be a negative just reality. H1B’s have contributed a lot to Qualcomm but if we look at what the biggest licensing fees are - it’s still CDMA (3G technology). Qualcomm has a lot of patents that make no money or bring in little to know money - hopefully that can change over time. The point is to show one should not come to Qualcomm to work at a leading edge tech company or to become “rich” with stock options …. Those days are long gone!!

How come most of the important patents innovators are H1Bs? Look carefully, 70% patents are Indian innovators, about 62% at principal contributors.

Except h1b, I agree on all. Without h1b, no single company can survive in US.
