Anyway. This was posted on Monday, March 6. It is now Saturday, March 18.

There were no YouTube-specific layoffs the week of March 6.

There were no YouTube-specific layoffs the week of March 13.

Some id--t is posting rumors to see if any stick. @OP was not acting in good faith. Matter closed.

Apparently overzealous moderation or a site glitch removed my response. Repasting here:

@2tao+1lvK2mMQ try not to put too much weight on the title.

There are actually a few quasi CEOs floating around that do not head distinct bets.
I agree it is confusing, but the fact is for layoff purposes, YouTube is part of Google. This contrasts with Waymo and Verily, of course.

YouTube is organizationally under Google. It is not (and never was) a separate bet under Alphabet.

What's the purpose of having their own CEO if they can't make their own decisions?

Rumors about specifically YouTube layoffs are all over the Internet. Just look at other similar forums and you'll see what I mean. Also, YouTube might be a part of Alphabet but it is still a unit unto itself, so yes, there can be YouTube-specific layoffs.

It is becoming increasingly obvious that most posters on this board don't work at Google, and are just trolling.

It's all about the Benjamins ... ur ... Schadenfreude.

This is nonsense.

YouTube is organizationally under Google. It is not (and never was) a separate bet under Alphabet. YouTube Googlers were among those laid off back in January.

If people knew about how Google's leadership thinks, they wouldknow that they would not start a round two of layoffs until round one is done. And in other countries round one hasn't finished.

It is becoming increasingly obvious that most posters on this board don't work at Google, and are just trolling.

I hope it's the moderators and the people involved in adding those "Context" links.
