They aren't just laying us off anymore — now they're replacing us with AI and shipping our jobs overseas to India. Verizon is starting to take more than just IT jobs. No, this shouldn't be "just a way of life," like some of you keep saying. It's un-American and it's bullsh-t.
They can't call us "V-Teamers" and "family" while watching us fall into poverty. They know how hard the economy is right now, and they don't care. I've seen smart, loyal people lose their jobs and struggle for months to find anything else in this industry. And some of you still don't get it — you think you're untouchable, but people are genuinely suffering because of the direction Verizon is taking through pure greed.
Sure, they're saving money — and that savings goes straight back to the CEO and shareholders, when they don't even need it. They already have more than enough. When is it ever going to be enough for them? Has your paycheck gone up at all because of these "savings"? No. It hasn't, and it won't.
They won't approve OT anymore, but they're still expecting the same amount of work. And if you don't keep up, you start to feel like you're next on the list — because plenty of people are quietly working unpaid overtime just to avoid that. How does the company "reward" that? By simply not firing them. That's not a reward, that's exploitation. It's wrong, it's illegal, and it's the kind of thing that should get the government's attention.
They've already broken rules around environmental practices and sales conduct — now it's labor law. It's a sh-t show, honestly. Just because you haven't seen it happen to you yet doesn't mean it isn't happening. This isn't "normal." It's getting worse, and they're getting bolder.
The last pulse survey showed executive leadership sitting at a 20% confidence rating. People are protesting data centers. They're using our own work to train the AI that will eventually replace us — and when it happens, it won't be because they valued you or your work. It'll be luck, or because you were quiet enough to let them get away with cheap or free labor off your back.
If we don't start valuing ourselves more than a corporation that clearly doesn't value us, we're all going to end up as another statistic — replaced by outsourcing, AI, or cheaper labor.
Stop arguing with each other, we aren't enemies.
