Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Reorganization announcement have started

Reorganization announcements have started. We were notified today, and while I cannot share the specific area, our team was not laid off. Instead, the team is being split up and moved under different managers.

We were told that the reorganization will continue next week in waves, with additional teams being notified over time. We were also informed that some areas across the company may experience layoffs.

I was also able to confirm that a coworker in a completely different department was recently asked to provide a manager breakdown and reporting list. Based on that, it seems the timing of notifications may depend on the department, and some employees may not hear anything for another couple of weeks.

@OP Will Citibank be collapsing is 13 layers of executive management to a more manageable 8 layers?

Is there any recognition of the fact that this management bloat was the direct and inevitable result of 2000-10s "globalization" and offshoring and the army of H1Bs?

Will try try to maintain the same offshore footprint with a thinner management structure?

Thank you for this post. I work in ICM and heard something extremely similar a few weeks ago. Jane had an emergency meeting over a May weekend and asked for a list of all directors that didn't have 10 or more reports as well as a list of all employees in support functions that may be able to be centralized. I understand this was firm wide and my manager at the time assumed any impact would be seen in June.

@c7 I also asked and didn’t get it in Jan. I’m pretty sure I would have got hit my now but I was in a position to retire so I quit after bonus. Can’t hurt to ask…

Exactly.

Why post or say anything at all with all the vagueness.

It's like being blind-folded and throwing darts at a dart board.

Save yourselves time, effort, and aggravation. Don't post at all.

@c7 nobody is going to lay you off because you ask, you are a prime candidate to leave on your own.

I just don’t get it. I’ve mentioned, asked, inquired, informed and all that to my manager that I WANT to volunteer for the layoff package and its gotten me nowhere. I see people all around me being walked out, why not me?

Another OP and useless post saying, "Layoffs definitely hit today/this week, somewhere, some department, some time. Trust me. I know for certain."

LOL!

This thread is as good as staring at a blank white sheet of paper, a crystal 🔮ball or rolling dice. 🎲

Stop being so vague in these posts. ‘I cannot share specific area or department ’, ‘I can’t mention the site location’, I can’t post the manager’s name’, etc. It’s pathetic how people are protecting the very same people they’re getting sc--wed over by. Bunch of cowards not taking a stance.
