Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Let’s unify

Alright folks, lots of talk of how fidelity is sc--wing us right now but how about we take a unified approach to hit back even subtly. They want to take away value from us, let’s take value from them. My suggestions:

  1. Everyone delete teams and outlook off your personal devices and only respond back to emails and chats during your regular business hours only.
  2. Leadership is poaching us constantly on ideas of how we can leverage AI. Do not give any actual good ideas of how to use AI to the company. Sure it can make your life easier in the interim but you are literally handing them keys to you being replaced.
  3. Give them the MVP (minimum viable product) of your work. Do the absolute minimum to not get on a pip and nothing more.

Best thing to do is all go in and not have enough parking or desks

@bm

Are you dimwitted enough to believe that this kind of bootlicking is going to save you, or are you doing it purely for the love of the game?

Way to go, chief.

There are plenty of people laid off from major competitors who will happily actually show up to work at the office and perform excellent work.

They’ll probably take substantially lower pay than you’ve made the last five years too.

Might want to actually show up to work and deliver real value, before you’re canned and replaced by a hungrier, less-entitled person.

@OP your second point hits it on the head

once mgmt. saw what we could do with AI, they mandated we work to eliminate a popular tool. Doing so will make our day to day much more difficult going forward but the cat is already out of the bag.

If I was to enter the time machine it would be to request additional time to work with AI experimentation etc. but then pine upon only the issues with it (not the benefits) during any conversations.

  1. I have BYOD installed but never check. At times you need it.
  2. Nobody within Fidelity knows AI. AI will conquer Fidelity from the outside.
  3. What's different than stealing salary from Fidelity?

Why not accept the management's stupidity and limits and enjoy the work itself?
