Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

The Core Tragedy of the Modern Turnaround

The situation at Verizon perfectly encapsulates a bitter reality of the corporate ecosystem: when leadership miscalculates, the workforce absorbs the shock.

The executives who championed the failed pricing strategies of the past are rarely the ones standing in the unemployment line. Instead, the everyday workers pay the price for those executive missteps so that the institutional investors can recoup their money.

Schulman’s strategy may very well succeed in bouncing Verizon's stock price back to a respectable valuation. The math might start working again.

But what the brand truly stands for when its financial resurrection requires the systematic dismantling of its own culture and the displacement of the very people who trusted the company with their careers.

It is a financial victory achieved through a human loss.

I need a Tiger team to set the foundation, give us a roadmap, a flowchart, swim lanes, ai workflows, and art of the possible to understand how our core competency of reorgs/layoffs/offshoring leads to organizational excellence and customer delight. It’s worked so well in the past. Let’s do it again!

@OP "But what the brand truly stands for when its financial resurrection requires the systematic dismantling of its own culture and the displacement of the very people who trusted the company with their careers." ........ ok so finish this phrase so that it's a sentence. What then does the brand truly stand for?

Am omelet that know one wants to eat. In other words a network that no one wants to use. They are shutting down small cells, decommissioning back up generators, pushing out preventative maintenance on HVAC, back up power etc.. and cutting way back on data and switch facility repairs. Very short sited and stupid! Save now the bill will be more expensive but due later after Dan has cashed out.

You can’t make an omelet without breaking eggs. In this case imagine those eggs have been run over by a truck, thrown against a wall and then scraped into the pan. Eventually we will get an omelet…
