Are people really in the office 5 days a week or is there flexibility/WFH allowed?

There is massive fraud going on. IT employees are coffee badging and contractors, even those on visa, are coming once or twice a week. There are many who have second contracts with other companies. Poor management. Send all those jobs to TCs before you look elsewhere.
To provide a clear answer for Op, EM Corp policy is mandatory in office unless there are reasons to not be present (I.e., meant to be abnormal reasons, not the,”I feel like it “). If you are seeking a hybrid or remote job, this is not the place. You will quickly learn that the unspoken rule is to be in the office.
@OP If you actually worked for the company, you'd know. Begone troll!
I never understood this weird hard-on for being in the office. Nothing magical happens there.
Source: left O&G and currently have decent-paying WFH job. No, I’m not telling you how to find one. Figure it out yourself.
@az I go wherever the culture is strongest that day. It’s a dynamic environment!
@av ‘For the culture,’ huh? Just curious, where exactly do you go every day then? And is your employer aware of that?
I’m there every day, rain or shine. I mainly go for the culture. You can work from home on occasion, but you need a legit reason, i.e. hospitalization, a car accident, or some kind of medically verifiable life event. Otherwise, business as usual.
@OP I’m in the office 5 days a week. Flexibility means choosing which chair I sit in.
It really depends on your manager. I had a manager that didn’t care at all, but my current one follows the policy to the letter.
The dashboard that tracks our presence says we’re allowed to work from home a maximum of 5 days within a 4‑week period, and those days can't follow a consistent pattern (like every Friday or every Tuesday). That dashboard is visible to you, your manager, and their manager up the chain.
My current manager requires us to mark our calendars for every WFH day, and honestly, I’d suggest sticking to the policy so they don’t have anything to use against you later.
I’m in the office “8 days a week.”
