Thread regarding T. Rowe Price Group Inc. layoffs

Lemmings get a desk. Hear ye, hear ye!

Flex space office criticisms focus on reduced employee privacy, increased distractions, and the loss of personal, consistent workstations, leading to lower employee satisfaction and engagement. Critics highlight challenges with noise, reduced productivity for focus-driven work, and increased hygiene risks, along with logistical hurdles in managing desk-sharing and shared amenity spaces

Key criticisms of flexible office spaces include:

Lack of Privacy and Focus: The open-plan nature of many flex spaces introduces constant distractions and noise, which hinders concentration.

Depersonalization and Low Morale: The absence of dedicated, assigned desks can lead to a feeling of being interchangeable, reducing employee engagement and loyalty to the workplace.

Productivity Declines: Studies indicate that while teamwork might be supported, tasks requiring high concentration can suffer in flexible environments.

Health and Hygiene Concerns: Shared desks and equipment, along with high-density, high-traffic setups, can increase the risk of illness transmission

.Logistical Challenges: Managing, booking, and maintaining cleanliness in flex spaces is a challenge, requiring robust systems to prevent frustration.Poor Environmental Control: Flex buildings often have less natural light and inferior environmental comfort compared to traditional offices.

@OP I am one of the people who "got an invite" in March and am outta here in July. The email announcing assigned desks didn't apply to Tech Ops people. I really have not been coming in the 2 days a week because of the disaster the Flex Desks are. So I guess this is good news for those staying on. It was especially tone deaf after COVID to set up these petri dishes. I had to drag so much stuff with me - including my own mouse and keyboard. They have those lockers that sat empty because you could only use them for the day which I found useless. I did see at Harbor Pt they are also now allowing overnight use. I could not concentrate - Flex desks depend on people following the guidelines and managers enforcing to an extent. None of that happened. And one group in our "neighborhood" would login at 12:00am and book an entire area of desirable locations for themselves, setting up defacto assigned seats for their group and making it impossible for anyone else to sit there. Bosses were aware and did nothing. In fact, they started booking the boss's seat when they booked theirs, and he was happy with that. This was a d-mb experiment, just like Accenture. I am looking forward to leaving this place and their weird experiments behind.

@a1 Spot on - There are monitors installed on walls all over the place that have never been turned on. Or they run the same old T Rowe propaganda on loop. Waste of money.

Funny. Packed into shiny metal boxes.. Or some useless, open space, with large monitors that don’t do anything, Just seats and a big tv on the wall all over HP. Lots of wasted space.
