Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

In office reporting

Are they tracking network logins? People are saying their manager is harassing them about being in the office at least hours a day all five days of the week.

@ky Can confirm, HR lady pooh-poohed ever point in my doctor’s note. It’s pretty obvious they were told to blanket deny everyone.

867-5309 girl even said in her vanity blog she “knows” everyone is faking accommodation requests. Why did she even see the reasons? Isn’t that HIPAA protected info?

Been working at the bank for 21 years - 17 years fully remote, changed positions and was hired as a telecomuter. My only issue that their forcing back in office, is that my role doesn't allow to be in a branch, I have to go to a non branch location which by their shortest route calculation puts me Haim to commute 34.9 miles, .1 under the threshold. And the shortest route they stated is a road I do not travel due to the dangers. The route I take ~38.6 miles, but they only consider the shortest route....that's the issue. I would be in the office in a heartbeat locally, but now have to commute to an office 3 counties over.

@ky - you are so close to getting it! If "We are adults who should be evaluated on performance and productivity" then it shouldnt matter where people sit. The "its bad for me so it should be bad for everyone" mindset is BIIIGG boomer energy.

@k3 network login and duration is for all teammates, once you log into VPN you are on a different report and compared times to network activity. Comparison to badge activity is based on location ID.

@ky Unpopular view but agreed. I run an office with “hard line” and lots of “dotted line” reports. I have no real authority over the “dotted line”abusers and their direct managers are afraid of who know who or what to say or do anything. Meanwhile all the others who are doing as directed are fuming. Hate to say it but we do need some accountability on this or it just evaporates.

As someone who is required to be in the office 8 hours a day while watching other teammates duck out early or not come in at all while saving on $5 a gallon gas, wear and tear and commuting stress, I applaud this.

Go on and down vote me, I get it. But leveling the playing field will boost morale. Do I agree with micro-managing and badge/VPN monitoring? No. We are adults who should be evaluated on performance and productivity. But it's a necessary evil. And to anyone who thinks HR will give them an accommodation to work remote for IBS - think again. They have marching orders to deny everyone.

Good luck everyone.

@fq Is this for all in office TMs or only badge locations?

@hv We've had this conversation before. You are not to be taken seriously, your viewpoint is not a real thing, and no amount of trying to portray that fictional employee trope will help you.

@h6 Then quit. If you're such an exceptional worker worthy of your own office I'm sure you'll be hired in no time.

@bg It is a horror to be held to 8 hours a day 5 days a week when there are not enough desks. There are offices without wifi.

Network login duration and corresponding VPN usage have been tracked and reported since January 1; however, distribution of these reports has only recently extended beyond the ELT. While your direct manager may not prioritize this, visibility now reaches higher levels of leadership, where noncompliance is generating significant concern.

Additionally, badge access data is being monitored and cross-referenced with VPN activity. This includes measuring the time elapsed between network logoff and subsequent VPN login, which is then compared against entries in the time tracking system. The apparent intent is to identify discrepancies that could support disciplinary action, including termination, for unreported absences.

@f0 Read the e-mail if you're actually a teammate.

The tracker they deployed today is very Big Brother-esque. Things are getting quite Orwellian. This place is something else….

The reporting tool changed on 4/6 and is flagging people not in 5 days a week. There are locations that are not supported ie no badge, work styles changed, or no assigned workspace but those people are getting flagged. Overzealous managers are questioning people.

I would think that if they did that there would be a mass exodus of teammates. Badge monitoring is bad enough. I did hear a rumor a while back that they are going to start monitoring badge swipes out to catch the coffee swipers and the noon-time sneak outs. Not sure if that is true or not. I guess time will tell.

@a8 um, you 5 folks who upvoted this…. Exactly what are you agreeing with here?? No, “they” are not tracking your car or your cell phone. “They” are not surveilling you at home, and most certainly not scanning your home network. Badge swipes, web surfing on company servers/VPN maybe, but put down the spy novels and chill.

@OP They track badge swipes, Cell phones, put tracking tags on your car in the parking lot, scan your home network if you wfh, and surveil you in your home in order to perform "Cointelpro" also known as Zersetzung. It is a violation of Federal and State constitutions, Labor Laws, Human Rights, and namely 18 USC 241. It is domestic terrorism.
