Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Just got the note today Memorial Hermann no longer in BCBS coverage.

Title says it all. All of my doctors are with memorial hermann so I guess I will have to find new ones. Life just keeps getting better and better at excon. So far this year I have spent 1600.00 for a heart scan, 700.00 for specialized blood work and 200.00 for an emergency room co pay plus 10% 600.00. My co worker spent 1200.00 for a colonoscopy. Another exxon employee was denied GLP 1 medication because their a1c was too low for diabetes. Funny thing is without the glp1 medication their a1c was over 7 but with gp1 it was below 6.5. You would think with stock price and money exxon has made they could afford to take care of the employees health care not. I guess indian btcs don't need health care and it is cheaper in india. A company that does not care about the health of its employees is a shameful place to work at. It is not just exxon health insurance is getting worse for everyone in the usa.

Yeah bro! Exxonmobil senior executives are on the exact same total remuneration plans available to all other employees with the exception of an executive cash bonus, extra RSU, annual "rank" proces, personalized copy of "don't fear the reaper" featuring DWW on lead vocals, and free extra lives via soul su-king of employees that are sacrificed every year in the name of leveling up the CORP.

@12a
So, "exact same medical coverage" except the things you listed are like visiting a Primary Care Doctor, an Internal Medicine Physician, a Cardiologist, an Ophthalmologist, a Dermatologist and a Nutritionist, all at a Top-Teir Hospital/Clinic. So, yeah, you're right, "exactly the same" as the rest of us, my apologies dear sir.

@wk, thanks for the attitude and your highly compensated employee bs. For anyone who cares about evidence over performative online posturing, here it is:

Exxonmobil senior executives are on the exact same medical plans available to all other employees with the exception of an executive physical.

The executive physical is a company‑paid perk for senior executives. It is not part of the medical insurance plan and does not run through BCBS/Aetna.

It is:

• A one‑day, comprehensive, preventive health evaluation
• Performed at a premium executive health clinic (e.g., Mayo, Cooper, Princeton Longevity, etc.)
• Paid directly by ExxonMobil, not by the employee or the medical plan

Think of it as a “top‑tier annual checkup” outside the insurance system.

What the Executive Physical Includes (Typical Features)

These vary slightly by clinic, but generally include:

• Full medical history review
• Extended physician consultation (60–90 minutes)
• Advanced blood panels (far beyond standard preventive labs)
• Cardiac stress test or VO₂ max
• Coronary calcium scoring or CT scan
• Full‑body skin cancer screening
• Audiology and vision testing
• Nutrition and fitness assessment
• Personalized health plan and follow‑up

These services are not part of the standard ExxonMobil medical plan’s preventive care.

100% true. Just because you don’t believe it doesn’t make it any less true. Look carefully through the benefits summaries and annual reports and you’ll see comments here and there about highly compensated individuals having different health coverage.

Anyone have evidence that senior execs have different healthcare? I don’t believe that’s true but if there is evidence of it, let’s hear it.

Don’t be concerned. The upper level Execs all have a different healthcare plan than us plebes. “Thank you, sir! May I have another!” Is the only acceptable response to the en$hitafication of benefits.

I'm in a similar boat--I see a specialist up in NYC at Mt. Sinai due to a genetic cardio issue discovered later in life. Just got the letter couple weeks ago saying that BCBS no longer covers Mt. Sinai.

I recommend doing a monthly review of all your insurance claims. Easily 30% reject rate on mine since we switched to BCBS.

The issue is BCBS not reaching deal with Memorial Hermann. The doctors told me that they have this ‘standoff’ every contract, it lasts 1-2 months, and they finally reach a deal….so maybe we get the coverage back in 2 months.

PPO fully covers in network colonoscopies after 45. Even with PPO, I still go to my primary care doctor to get a referral because I have less insurance snags that way.

Insurance su-ks. It is all just a business where they are looking for sc--w-ups to charge you. And doctors are looking for ways to charge them….which trickle down to you if you don’t pay.

@OP A couple of Indian colleagues told me take care of their health issues when they travel back home. Apparently, if their parents are government employees, the children get free treatment and the insurance covers everything.

I just learned today that no less than four different doctors I work with are ALL cut as of today, with no prior notice

This also includes the Pediatrician for my children who we’ve grown with and trust

The situation makes me sick to my stomach

EM simply trying to push HC10 employees voluntarily off the payroll.

EM actively recruiting people to do your job for 1/10th the salary.

BCBS is simply the administrator of your company’s health care plan — not the root cause of rising costs. Their profit margin is only about 1%. The real drivers of skyrocketing healthcare expenses are elsewhere, but those who benefit from the confusion aren’t likely to correct the misunderstanding.

The last 2 years have been the worst degradation of benefits I can remember in my 20 years here. Really sad for a company that says people are its best asset. I would expect them to take better care of our health if they truly believed that.

Yes and the pension won’t last either. That will be the final straw for many

BCBS is absolute trash. I require out of network specialist care and I am essentially footing 90% of the cost. WTF do I even pay for insurance premium? Over 50k in out of pocket expenses last year. Never happened before until we switched to BCBS. Oh, and my meds use to be $2...now they are $170 because XOM took them off the "approved" list. So much for total remuneration being the reason to stick it out at this company.
