When Vendor Bias Becomes the Standard...

I do not think we need to discuss this ad nauseam. The reality is that kickbacks are happening. If you have been here long enough, you know which directors insist on using specific vendors for almost everything, regardless of whether those vendors are only average in certain areas.

To be frank, this is not just BD’s problem. It occurs in many IT organizations. However, at BD, it has reached a much higher level. This is making BD increasingly unappealing to professionals with strong moral and ethical standards, and it is pushing us toward a situation where this behavior becomes normalized.

It is not normal and never will be. It is unethical and it corrupts everyone involved.

let us not pretend that IT is the problem with this issue - the business has been in bed with PWC forever and they are completely incompetent

@OP It’s not uncommon for people in positions of power to accept gifts, favors, or even kickbacks — though in most cases, the quality of their work doesn’t really take a big hit. But the story is completely different with TGS leaders. They somehow manage to spend five to ten times more for work that’s well below standard — the kind of job other organizations get done for a fraction of the cost and with enterprise-level quality.

This mess stems from two main reasons. First, there’s hardly anyone among the decision-makers who actually has the right background or expertise to make an informed decision. And second, the place is rotten from top to bottom with corruption. When you’ve got incompetent and dishonest people calling the shots, it’s no wonder nothing good ever comes out of it.

@OP Couldn’t agree more. I guess the mandatory ethics training we need to take every year isn’t having the desired result! lol
