For the year. Was this to rub my face in it or were they trying to be nice? Confused. Learned a long time ago to trust no one at Ford. All reviews before had been great and previous merit raises much better. Just figured if you get placed on pip then you would not get a merit raise. Did they do this as an insult since they want to fire me, they would not be paying the merit raise anyway?

@c8 Don’t go to speak up; you’re insane?!?! HR is a waste of time if you're in that situation. However, it’s wise to document everything and consult a reputable lawyer. Ford HR is quite incompetent, and none of these managers seem to understand even the basics of employment law. It’s almost as if none of them have business degrees; it’s bizarre.
Did you meet the RTO requirements for 2025? Leadership and HR have held RTO metrics as a top priority and this will not change for 2026. I suspect you did not meet, as did others who did not receive the bonus or merit they expected.
@aj+1kksz3877 The vast majority of people who came to Ford directly out of college and stayed for 30 years make much less than you would think. I was an experienced hire. I hired in as sg8 and was later promoted to ll6. When I saw the large discrepancies in pay for experienced hires vs long term great employees I tried to close the pay gap. For reference we are talking 20k to 60k discrepancies for the exact same role. Closing the gap is very difficult, nearly impossible thru the normal merit process. You had to jump thru HR hoops to get off-schedule increases but were limited to the amount. The most I was ever able to get was 10K a year and more usually it was less than 5k. It takes years of concentrated effort by an LL6 to adjust the wage gap, so most LL6 don’t bother, after all they will be moved to a new position in a few years.
@OP If they didn't do any coaching and counseling and did this to you , go to speak up and make a case. Start documenting everything and also reply and comment on your final review of what you have accomplished and report they never said anything to you. Update resume and start looking for another position within Ford. If you want to stay fight! I know a few who did this and got a different positions and are very happy, Document, document, document and fight! You are not alone!!!!
@aj No this wouldn't be BS! This is how the company is. They gave something since they probably did do any coaching or counseling. The person does good work but someone has it out for them and wants to get rid of the person.
I’m not surprised at all that you are 55 and all of a sudden they force a pip on you. Can’t answer for the $1K merit raise question though.
Before I came to Ford. I worked at Boeing. The minute you turn 50 years old you had a bulls-eye slapped on your back. Boeing management along with HR’s help would always be looking for a way to single and force 50 + year olds out of the company. May it be a pip or direct firing. I witnessed managers along with HR’s help target a guy who was in his 60’s. They thought they had this guy cold for leaving work early every day before his shift ended. So the HR goon requested smart card time stamp door swipes going back 6 months for this guy. At the conclusion of their investigation they realized they couldn’t fire this guy for leaving work early because in the 6 months they had his door swipes he was only short 5 minutes for the entire 6 months. So HR goon dreamed up another way to fire this guy and they did it.
If you've been at it for 30 years, I'm betting that puts your salary at least 150k but likely closer to 200k; 1k of a merit is 0.5%, that is not "horray" we're giving you a merit, it's a "here's considerably less than inflation" and we had to write down something. Given you're talking about your merit in absolute dollars (no one does that), I'm guessing this is a BS post.
Let's be honest...with 30 years of service you have to know by now how the game is played at Ford. I work at another big three employer and I'm going to assume there's two different lists/metrics for paying the 1k and the individuals they probably want gone...age discrimination is a real thing...I'll assume you're currently at the top of your pay grade ...
