Thread regarding Fannie Mae layoffs

RTO Rant

We all know that RTO was a completely political kissarse move and not a decision based on any facts but I am completely over it!
I'm in the office more days now than before COVID except now I don't even have my own assigned desk. We promote homeownership and affordability but treat employees like we are vagrants having to pack up our entire work life and take it home everyday and then hope we get a desk tomorrow. One that isn't covered in food crumbs from the person yesterday because they aren't cleaning these desks and the desk wipes are out more often than not!
Now that Trump had destroyed gas prices, between the cost of tolls, gas prices rising, the constant fear of layoffs, and hours in traffic, I'm being pushed way past my limit. I'm naturally a high performer but that's about to change. Being asked to do more work with less resources, all while being forced to come into an office just to sit on Teams Meetings all day is the d-mbest thing Pulte has done to date.
And, unfortunately, it's an employers market, so he can get away with it. #burnout #FDT

A lot of the back to the office is nothing more than a way for companies, especially larger ones, to trim work force without firing people or doing significant layoffs. Similar to when a company moves locations and says you have a job if you move but not if you stay...knowing not everyone will be on board. I'm not saying this work from office is a good method, but lots of big companies are now hybrid or full work from office.
Don't forget fannie and freddie were full time 5 days a week work from office not long ago...so the work from home isn't normal and wasn't supposed to be all the time. Not to mention there were already issues before covid with some departments working from home and others not...so for the most part now the majority are in the office. I also think it was to see who was actually working as I know quite a few that were working no more than 2 to 3 hours a day when home.
None of it matters as most management there even before Pulte is a joke and still there and more concerned about their jobs then actually doing anything. So if you think anyone cares there they don't.

@OP It feels like getting in a rental car every day and having to spend time adjusting the seat, fixing all the mirrors, connecting your phone, and updating all the other settings before you can even start to drive. Oh great this one smells like smoke.
New day, new car. Very frustrating! No one has time for that.

Management should be ashamed of themselves.

Its super annoying for sure. Flexibility with purpose is so lame. Gas prices, tolls, parking stress to sit in teams meeting at your own desk is so not worth it. Worse is to make up in person time on days you are sick or vacation by showing up on your work from home day to compensate. Whatever happened to people first value system. Gone, Lost since last year. Plus the fear of any looming RIF and some sort of race to conquer processes using AI. Needless pressure tactic.

Hey don't forget the fact that many people were allowed to stay remote despite leadership saying only those with "critical skills" could retain those positions! And now some posted positions are for remote roles again, all while we rot in the office.
