Got a nice bump, remote engineer , ive seen loads of remote ppl paid over 200 and not enough work,hope the same in 2026,

There is no such thing as a 2.5. Ratings are whole integers 1 through 5. You either got a 2 or a 3, look at your comp statement or your overall rating.

Bonuses are not guaranteed. Your bonus is UP TO some percent. Your manager has a budget and needs to distribute it to everyone on the team based on their performance. Rating impact this and complicate things. If everyone on the team were a 3, it would be simple, but its not always like that. Also know that your manager is not giving you comp, they are suggesting your comp, their manager, and their manager, all the way up the chain can and do make adjustments so that the budget fits and makes sense across teams (3s ought to be receiving less than 4s for example)

@tm there are ranges for each rating bucket and everything has to even out to meet the budget. So if two people got a 3 and the leader thought one was more deserving than the other for whatever reason, they could give one 105% and one 95%.

@ac You must be mistaken. If they got 3, how could they receive less than 100% of their target, which implies underperformance?

I got a 4 and received 110% personal, so 156.5% total.

@OP People got rated a 3 with 95% bonus. Love to know what level people achieved the whole 142%
