Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Business Analyst, scrum masters - What you really do in tech groups ?

I don't see any value add for Business analyst, scrum masters in tech groups. Specially in AI era, these positions are redundant and can be completely eliminated.

@cs the net issue with the data is that there is no documentation that details what the business wants/needs (problem being solved) vs Technology building what the either want or “think” the business wants. The process needs to be thought out, documented, reviewed, designed and built. Business Analysts bridge that gap. Unfortunately I’ve also seen the business unable to articulate their needs and let Tech do what they want and then complain. Tech wants control to keep themselves in the game.

you need a BA that has decades of SME to teach the devs all about financial markets and what the data means…. your team “throw bodies” at a problem, rather than an expert.

baby talk to devs, make massive pointless XL sheets, write documents nobody reads, dev teams are selforganizaing BA is useless, at least SM removes roadblocks and reports on biweekly velocity

@OP 100% agree. When they’ve been introduced, they added no value, stole my time, I had to explain those juniors what’s actually going on and now of the most of these ladies got pregnant and are on maternity leave..

actually the business analyst will become the future vibe coder since remembering design patterns is Devin’s job.
