Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Laid off and aftermath

I was laid off in December. There was no non compete agreement to sign. I had 4 interviews with competitors lined up after the holidays and accepted a role with one to start in February. I brought all of my knowledge with me. And I’m making 15% more. Life gets better after this dumpster fire.

If you haven’t already explored Expert Networks, ask AI about them - then sign up for a few of the bigger ones. Right now, there’s lots of interest in UHG and its future among private equity and consulting firms. I’m making 300/hour on calls (started at 100, and built up from there). The calls are sporadic but I bank enough to make it worthwhile. There’s an EN site on Reddit for those that want to learn more

Project Manager here - I was part of the April RIF. Finally found a job - started about a month ago. Took allll that knowledge with me, giving it to another org. The market is very rough for PMs - I got this job because I have expert level knowledge of a niche software system they also use. Much, much more stable company (just taking a look at their board on this site - it's absolutely dead. Just a few 'bot' posts here and there. It's nothing like this one).

Hang in there, but it's tough out there!

Happy Ending Rif-ers,
Congratulations, because the odds are against us collectively during the worse job market in quite sometime, during the worse time in our society.
Please continue to lend support to others and share job info where ever you land.

My company was bought and me and my team were all canned within a year.

It was awful for some but great for many.
I lost weight, got healthy, got a new job, hired most of my old team, make much more than at Moptum but the biggest gain was losing the general manager Dan Hard-n, who was the biggest freakin liar that was ever born.

Get out if you can and good luck if you can’t.

Congrats to you! I was laid off last month and I am struggling to get an interview. I was a Business Analyst Consultant and I have a wealth of experience to give to a better company. Hopefully I find it soon. Wishing all that were affected the best!

That's the danger of this board. Those with the happy endings are not the ones who usually continue to participate. So it paint a bleak one sided picture of life after Optum.

It’s so true. I am also making more after I was let go. I realized how little I was getting paid and how undervalued I’d become. Looking back, the RIF was the best thing that could have happened.
