Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Does anyone definitively know why TCS jobs got cut?

Since January, on all of my calls, it's really obvious people are burned out and complaining that there's so much work and not enough people. I am wondering if management just wants everyone to resign to be able to reduce headcount. And then what? It's people in the bottom doing most things. I've been on calls where people were just dependent on this one singular person doing all the stuff. What if he goes? At this point I am doubtful that this is even part of their decision-making process.

@OP they pushed me too hard. I smiled and took it because unbeknownst to them I was ready to retire. I just smiled at my manager going on maternity leave this month when he said he needed me to step up to carry more of the work load. Even said I looked forward to the opportunity to do new things. Quit without notice the moment the bonus hit the account.

This only stop if you unionize or complain to Senators, Media and whatever tools you can use. Don't delay! Do right now!

Citi is quietly doing layoffs without much noise like Amazon or Microsoft. They are not in news much.

The government must look into the fake internal job postings, promotions for favorite candidates, and immigration visa abuse. Citi is notorious for replacing American workers with H1B, L1 TN, OPT, H4 EAD candidates.

They hire in India, Ireland, Poland, Costa Rica Singapore, and their last option is hiring in the USA.

Most of the Indian managers are racists and they discriminate other south asians based on caste and culture. It's a absolute disgrace to the America.
Citi HR and Ethics teams are a joke!

They will hire overseas and make them rich and show layoffs in the USA to bump up the stock!
The only strategy is lay off people and get more bonuses! This cannot survive for long. It's a shame that the assets of the big four banks in the USA are not even comparable to some average banks in China.

You sound surprised. Citi's target layoff is 20k people with a motto of "do more with less". This has been going on for 2 years now.

I hope they hire more staff if they reduce that many contractors or at least absorb them. There is serious burnout going on.

I see US Citizens and Permanent Residents are laid off and H1Bs and H4 EADs have jobs which is absurd
