IPO announcement

It’s official! We are going public. Nice to see Michael’s strategy finally paying off. Excited to see what the future holds as an S&P 500 company.

@OP Great time to IPO. Pearson stock down 35% year over year. Keep forgetting that education is a global growth business.

I personally know one of the investment bankers who fleeced APAX into buying Thomson learning.

There is a su---r born every minute. Even those who went to Ivy League schools.

This is gonna be fun.

@ce Congrats on the most ignorant comment ever posted to this board. Truly amazing, just when you think you’ve seen the bottom of the barrel, someone like you shows there is further down the barrel to go.

An IPO is not a declaration that a company is healthy. It’s a liquidity event. Going public doesn’t necessarily mean a business is strong, well-run, or ready for the future. It can simply mean that the current owners need a way out. In cases like this, private equity isn’t signaling confidence so much as creating an exit when no single buyer is willing to take on all the baggage the company now carries. That baggage can include weakened operations, damaged culture, and exposure to an industry that’s already struggling. Public markets make this possible because the risk gets spread out across thousands of investors instead of landing on one organization that would have to live with the consequences long term. In other words, an IPO can be a way to recover capital even when the company no longer has a solid foundation for real renewal.
