Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Sick of all the Dan hate!

Seriously, the dude has only been in charge for 3 months and the peanut gallery is already taking pot shots at him - from the way he sips coffee to way he presents himself at Davos. Like seriously, the only thing that should matter is what the shareholders think? Not some joe blow from Tampa who is living in his mom's basement. Unlike the previous guy, Dan is at least willing to shake up the status quo in order to make VZ into a lean, mean machine.

What do folks seriously want him to do? Continue with the same old formula where we continue to get our a**es handed down to us by TMUS quarter after quarter or compete by changing the firm radically?

A man who claims to be incredible with business, tech, and AI still doesn't use Slack and only emails! Sounds like a fraud. List of accomplishments, rif 13k employees making us survivors life more difficult, create instability, remove the Personify $300 activity credit, remove the $100 non smoking health credit which has been here since I started 10yrs ago, removed the $6 Wellness credit for gym, just name a few. Now $406 is not going to break me but leaves a bad taste on how we are valued. I am not looking for silly spending for Kickoffs like in the past but those little things means a lot. $6 for fitness has way more benefits for Healthcare than us blowing money on suites and events. Nickel and dime employees

@OP I dont know what you motivation was to initiate the original post? However, I want to personally express my gratitude and appreciation for posting and to have commenced this dialogue!!

Bottom line: clearly you can discern that Dan is a worthless and incompetent and crooked individual and an anathema as to be Verizon's CEO.

I appreciate all the responses as all of them have an expressed common theme.

Dan was on the board for over 8 years. He is as responsible as Hans for the poor decisions and company performance. Now that he self appointed himself CEO with a 50 million plus compensation package things are going to change? Still waiting for the "PLAN" to be revealed.

Nice post, Dan / @op. Glad to see you are reading along.

So let's see. Guaranteed $30M in two years. Laid off 15k people so far. Has no vision, no idea, no plan besides CUT COST. Oh, Dan, did you share with the audience that you have had all your EVPs roll down another 10% cut across the org the same day you posted that sh---y video of you drinking coffee? Those reading along who don't believe me, ask you Band 5 folks what they have been doing every day for the last three weeks.

Why do people hate you, Dan? It's very simple. You personify what's wrong with the greed in leadership. You don't care one bit about the company, the people, the customers, or anything else. You care about getting your pay package and handing the bleeding carcass off to your successor. You brought in your crony EVPs and a few juicy contracts for the very same AI companies where you are an advisor to the CEO (no conflict of interest there, oh no) but have done absolutely zero to make anything better for anyone, be it employees or customers.

This guy is old guard.. you may call him Mr PayPal but he’s really NJ Bell and ATT.. like pre 1984. This guy is no better than Lowell. Or the guy before him. Goodluck on him knowing anything about real technology. He’s just here to make the balance sheet look good and then be replaced by a CEO with a real Telecom experience (not sales).

@ag the Davos panel not only show what he thinks of employees but what also he thinks of his wife. Microsoft CEO caught it right away. he is really an a--hole.

What's he going do? What's he supposed to do?

He had at least 5-6 years on the board to do something and instead did nothing. Now all of a sudden he's the smartest human in the room that can look at a page of code and tell us how much better the AI is and oh, by the way, all of you are out of a job.

Look at the stock price since he took over, literally from day 1. The market knows him and knows what he's (not) capable of. He's not inspirational, visionary, or strategic. Merely a disingenuous, simpleton, and a hack. The only thing he knows is RIFs and other temporary stock price tricks and even those aren't working.

@OP Yes, The bad customer service ( the ones in the US) is bad employees. Everyone says bad network. That would be the employees. Outages all year long. Hmmm, employees. Over managed- low reports. Bad higher employees for not picking them for the cut. And so on. Still running too fat

@ab there were actually 15,000 layoffs. After the 13,000 in the US, an additional 2000 were laid off in India.

Maybe you can explain to everyone what exactly he has done so far to improve things and delight our customers. Most of us see local leadership struggling without direction or support. Dan’s leadership is what’s scrappy.
