Things were just so much better before this "merger of equals". We had to adapt to inferior BBT policies and procedures and technology despite the lies of choosing the best options.

Suntrust just settled a $240 million lawsuit. Searched out KK for merger to help get suntrust on track. But it’s not for the employees now, it’s for stockholders. Buy stock if you want to be rewarded.
Good grief, do you also still miss your high school sweetheart?
Move on. Both banks were good/bad but the only thing that really matters is they are both gone and this new bank is worse than the pieces.
Move on and find a new job and you will be happier.
@6s1 Build a bridge and get over it. It's been years.
@OP agreed miss SunTrust too! BB&T su-ks and all their stupid systems
Suntrust was a trash bank. Most of their workers were d-mb as sh*t. D-mb move by king. Now we have re--rd bill.
@fd Poor thing, I'm sorry you've had such bad experiences with both orgs. Maybe the problem is you?
BBT > ST
Stating the obvious here but both companies were large, complex organizations that had their positives. Having worked at all three (BBT, STI, and TFC) my particular division was better run by Sun than its equivalent at BBT. While at TFC I “missed Suntrust”, too. Not because of tribalism or resentment or loyalty, just efficiency and management “getting it”.
I know it would have changed eventually, but I understand the sentiment. So many uniting a common fondness for “the good old days” but I’m surprised it’s still so strong after all these years.
@a6 there wasn’t a tech team in BB&T or SunTrust that was ever quick and smooth. The sport is almost comical with folks remembering how good they were in high school.
@ew go back to Wells.
No offense but the merger was six years ago. Bb&T and SunTrust no longer exist. We are all one bank called Truist. As an outsider that recently joined, it seems weird how much tribalism people still hold onto from so long ago. Both those banks wouldn’t be the same without the merger because the industry is changing. This political aligning and tribalism is only going to get in our way of success as we move forward. I appreciate the nostalgia, truly, but both banks bought plenty to the table and arguing over which was better over half a decade later is looking backwards. Time to drop the political alignments and tribalism and look forward.
@d3 we may be on the same team because that is exactly what the hST people in my team said/feel.
You’re honestly the first person I’ve heard say they miss Suntrust. Even the Suntrust peeps that joined our team said they were excited for BB&T to take over. They’re now all pi---d that it’s Suntrust 2.0 over here….
This post is the truth:
I joined after the merger, and I can tell you both groups brought the worst to the merger. This is the worst run bank in the country without exception.
"I just miss SunTrust."
Said no one ever.
@OP and we hBBT wish you could go back there as well and take your miserable CEO with you.

This has been the entire issue for the tech area I'm in. We went from a very quick and smooth operation with close to zero escaped defects to being forced to only release at MOST every other month, with literally 10 times the paperwork so that people who don't understand any part of the tech stack can sign offf on what we're doing. It's pitiful, but honestly I get to do half as much work because they literally won't let us go faster so, I guess I shouldn't be too mad.
