Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Burlington Layoffs

Can anybody share details about how this went down? Was it one-on-one calls or a mass Teams invite like the one in July 2024?

The intel on this site has been incredible.

This should not have surprised anyone, but it’s devastating nonetheless.

We, the peasants, have formed a fortified army against the corrupt management team.

@vx Absolutely not, Burlington does not have the ability to take in the corporate office. It will be beyond cramped when CFS moves in this summer. First of all, Burlington is located in a desolate business park. There’s really no place to expand the building, unless they completely knock it down and build up on multiple floors, but I can’t see them doing that. They would have to buy more land in the industrial park, such as the vacant YMCA down the road and really build up a campus with parking garages. Sammy-San wouldn’t like it though because it’s not prestigious enough. He’d have to spend a ton of money. There are no upscale dining establishments around to wine and dine the snobby affluent aristocrat executives. Diners and Wawa aren’t going to cut it, LOL Plus, you got the smelly river and tons of bridge openings that clog up traffic during rush hour. The congestion would be a nightmare with the way the business park is laid out.

@vx what I heard is the renovations in Burlington have to do with CFS moving to the building in July...

It has been pretty quiet regarding last year's news of a potential sale of Melville HQ and now the recent renovations at Burlington. Perhaps HQ will be moved to NJ? Either Burlington or Jamesburg which I believe are both wholly owned by Canon.

Quiet quitting will accelerate at a higher rate to the point where the company will implode, and put management in the cross hairs. Reap what sew, Sammy-Sun, you heartless sack of monkey doo. You are a waste of human flesh.

@e1 Instances like this cry for the creation of a Union. It's time to organize and fight back...hard. These ba----ds have gone too far.

Very disgusted with the news. Even though I did not directly work with or socialize with any of the layoff victims, I am saddened by their loss. Anybody with a conscience, and or experience with being laid off in the past, should be able to easily empathize with those directly impacted.

Every person remaining needs to seriously think about their future and if this disgrace is really worth the aggravation.

This is crazy. I wonder how many people who suffered layoffs are among those that didn’t have the four-year college degree, like MO was talking about the other day. I mean imagine saying that to your employees watching… “If you alipped through the application process without a 4-year degree, we don’t need you.” What an absolute tu-d of a human being.

Butter everyone up with the nice holiday bonus, just to know you are going to let a bunch of people go a few weeks later. What a kick in the teeth.. How can anyone feel comfortable going forward?

So easy for them to do it on the phone. I think it should be mandatory they do it when you’re in the office. I think it’s more civil to let you collect your things.
