Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

I just finished a great meeting with the very successful Intel CEO, Lip-Bu Tan.

I just finished a great meeting with the very successful Intel CEO, Lip-Bu Tan. Intel just launched the first SUB 2 NANOMETER CPU PROCESSOR designed, built, and packaged right here in the U.S.A. The United States Government is proud to be a Shareholder of Intel, and has already made, through its U.S.A. ownership position, Tens of Billions of Dollars for the American People — IN JUST FOUR MONTHS. We made a GREAT Deal, and so did Intel. Our Country is determined to bring leading edge Chip Manufacturing back to America, and that is exactly what is happening!!!

@156 Micron is rapidly expanding capacity and the other memory outfits are doing the same, in some cases buying existing fabs and doing conversions.

The older Intel fabs are not very big, compared to a memory fab, but could be expanded and would be a way to speed up getting additional capacity to the market.

I have no doubt that most or all of the Israel site, and the older AZ site are being shopped around. The older IR site has been on the market for a while now.

It's said that the current TSMC capacity constraint is putting pressure on various companies to look at Intel Foundry, and the same is true for the older fabs.

Any fab which does not already have EUV, has no place in a future Intel Foundry.

You should meet and interview the Def Met leadership for the real scoop

@153 A reckoning of all older fabs is inevitable.

Maybe they are run to the end of their current roadmap, but they are worth a lot more while still producing. Intel could sell them or lease the facilities, and buy back wafers as needed.

That would generate enough profit for the acquiring company to help fund the eventual retoolling needed to make those fabs be industry compliant.

The funds from those sales would help fund the capital improvements needed if or when Foundry gains some real external volume demand.

Nothing is inevitable but it seems to make a lot of sense to reduce Foundry to just the fabs which can serve external customers, then be laser focused on that.

I'd agree that the stock is starting to resemble the silver chart, begging to retest, but consider that the market is trying to price in the first meaningful IFS customer (rumored to be Apple for lower end products).

Also consider the deal with TATA, which may be part of the exit from older node production. If LBT is about to announce the sale of some fabs and/or entire fab sites to various foundries, then that is not in the stock.

Sometimes, a stock getting vertical happens just before it gets more vertical..ererer.

What is $50 if the ultimate top is $150 to $200 (in a few years)?

@14j Most of the posters on this site either do not work for Intel, are paid to troll, or are fab monkeys.

None of those groups is ever investing in the stock, and that is why they remain where they are.

This is such a lie. so many ppl were telling to invest in other investments and sell their Intc at highest which was around $40.

You can't blame people for this, even Trump doesn't think Intc is a good investment.

So many people were posting on here that Intel was finished only a few months back. They were telling you to dump the stock under $20. Anyone who listened to them made a horrible mistake.

If intel's new factories are not turning out ASICs for drones and missiles or MCUs for the auto industry. POTUS is simply wasting taxpayer money to fund LBTs golden exit strategy.

I had an amazing golf game with Lip-Bu Tan over the weekend and he was laughing at how naive and stupid trump is, and thrilled to have the American taxpayer helping fund his retirement account.

@av - customers are concerned with EUV litho; not packaging. Packaging has been done outside the US for decades.

Um? Do we really make 18A in the U.S.? which parts? Do we package it in the U.S.? (No) Did we develop it in the U.S.? Nothing like having POTUS do the same song and dance the marketing guys do.

Is Intel really in OK shape? Why does it keep on using politics to gain. See the stock jump by Trump, various fake news , and government threat to other companies and countries. All are political, None is based on true technology and delivery.

@b3 This is a troll site, not that any other social media site is the place to get investing advice.

What you will here on this site and most other sites is to do exactly the wrong thing.

It's all just noise, no signal.

Short-term stock price is not an indication of the internal health of the company. Gamble on it while you can.
