Nebraska unemployment claims rose sharply after the Tyson Foods plant closure. Between January 18 and 24, 3,042 initial claims were filed. This represents a 177.5 percent increase from the prior year. The Nebraska Department of Labor reported these figures. The Tyson Foods beef plant in Lexington closed on January 20.

Company confirmed. The closure is scheduled to take effect Tuesday and will fully shut down operations at the facility.
