Thread regarding Paramount Global layoffs

Promotions

Heard from my manager that promotions aren’t happening this round. Is that true?

False! A handful at CBS got promotions because people taking the package. I myself took on more work (work that nobody wants to do.), but did not receive a promotion like others in the group. I guess what I do at CBS is not as important as others. Total BS!

@OP They're more rare, but they occur. I had a direct report promoted this week.

No. It’s either the 3% merit or the promotion new comp

@rd The most heavily promoted, overhyped program on CBS over the past two weeks lost 41% of its YTD demo viewership in what was already the weakest time slot in the ENTIRE prime time calendar.

It was a stinker of historical proporrtions.

@mm And your proof that this is the reason for falling ratings?

@eg If you are promoted with a raise, does the 3% merit increase still apply to that individual?

@q3 The layoffs are meant to streamline the business and if you think there is not enough money to support promotions (or even maintain current staffing levels) when there was a $108 billion offer made to buy WB, then we are all in trouble. People deserve advancement opportunities, especially those of us who have had to pick up more work because our colleagues have been laid off.

Promotions have happened for some. There’s a new ‘VP’ of people in tech who is remote. How is it fair?

How 'bout Demotions? Bari Weiss taking CBS ratings down with her own hands, needs to be demoted

Limited amount of promotions for people in critical roles that will go into effect on Jan 1. Names were submitted already

I'm hearing conflicting timelines. Some people are saying January while others are saying it will line up with March STIP and merit increases, if any

Firstly, I work in HR. There will be promotions in January, but don't assume everyone who feels they deserve one will get one. It will be tightly locked down. Some promotions won't make sense, and some very deserving people won't get a promotion.

Incorrect. Promotion is happening, depending on department you work in.
