Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

mangers think it’s bad union associates think it’s terrible company will never recover so poorly run

So seeing all the disorganized reorganization going on in management.Wondering just what’s in store for us at the bottom of the pole .We are in a contract year yet have heard nothing more then there was no early agreement.I mean as I sit looking at the cost to live in northeast I realize that everyone is acting like we make so much but in reality just surviving!!Difference is we don’t get some huge golden parachute. The pension is peanuts m.Maybe it was worth something years ago currently with gatt rate it’s not worth more then few years salary if that .The company has already spent years sc rew I g Us .Now th y really wanna deal us the death blow .So anyone thinking this is just a management dilemma.Think Again. Were next .So stop kiss A$$ and start asking so what’s going on with our contract coming up

So many have no idea how many non-union techs this company had that just got canned. They haven’t wanted union since the split but have played the game. Hope you all scheduled your vacation for August next year cause the way I hear it from upper level is you’re faq’d. Company is now over 80% non-union. Landline has basically re-aligned itself with the wireless footprint now. Didn’t labor cancel all contract talks? They’re going to hang you out to dry. You hard core “they’ll sign a new contract” blowhards are probably some of the ones they’re after. Whatever they get away with CWA will be a walk in the park for the IBEW.

@cw obviously you have no idea what your talking about. The contract will be signed and the union employees will be kept by Verizon. Im sorry if you lost your job but that is no reason to wish it on somone else. The union is not leaving Verizon.

the union has no leg too stand on.theres very little work.union sc--wed its membership with the pensions and healthcare.now days you only hear from the union is during their election time.when issues come up they do not address the issues, everything is a secrect.its not the locals from 20 years ago.these days the union officials are in bed with the company..just watch and see how much you will lose this coming contract.its very ,very sad how the union has become and there are many members that feel the same

@OP I was surprised today to learn that VZB fired all of their non union techs in Chicago and elsewhere. They were replaced with contractors. The writing is finally on the wall. So when they talk to you about dispatch times and metrix its all for naught.

If you call your local rep they will explain all of this to you. They will negotiate and they will sighn a new contract.

This reads like a boomer Facebook rant. Is the union in the room with you?
