Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

2026 Layoffs! Get Ready!

Boeing plans to lay off approximately 17,000 employees, representing about 10% of its workforce, in response to ongoing financial struggles and production delays, with significant impacts expected in 2026.
The layoffs are expected to affect employees across various levels, including executives and managers. This move is part of Boeing's efforts to stabilize its operations and address the financial strain caused by the prolonged strike and production setbacks. The company is also facing rising healthcare costs for employees, which may further complicate its financial outlook in 2026.

I don’t think Boeing will layoff any employees in STL since they won the F 47. I expect they will keep engineering busy until that program reaches the production stage then they will lay off.

They will need mechanics for the production line. Once they get that program to production, and if it goes smoothly, there will definitely be a layoff. That’s how they’ve done it on previous programs.

Boeing used to hire a lot of Contract employees during this stage of development so that when the program reached production and they needed to reduce the workforce, they would not lay off any direct employees. But now they don’t care who they lay off.
