Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

The amount of coping on Linkedin is hilarious

One person called Verizon their dream job. Another few people were 'thanking' Verizon. Another few were claiming that these people 'deserved it'.

Stop breaking your backs for this company, man. Have some respect. You don't need to have all of the answers, but people don't need to be su-king up to the incompetence in this company.

The LinkedIn posts sicken me. I would love to share how I really feel about my ex "leaders" and Verizon if it didn't mean career su----e. RIF aside that place is toxic. Verizon won't get any tears from me. I will happily collect my severance while looking for higher paying jobs.

@ca I hear you. I meant the decision is done and it is business decision. Calling out the company and not being professional won't benefit you or change the outcome. A lot of people might return as contractors if their options are limited

@am I don't think we should 'burn bridges' per se. More that we don't need to be thankful at the expense of ourselves. Value yourself and your skills higher than a company that feels the obligation to just throw you away.

Agree! My VP is the one who solely chose who he wanted out. Did not ask his directors - and there he is in linked in liking the posts from so many. Such fake

@bv
Underneath the BS, they felt the same way as many others do.
Don't sweat it.

Ronita, an impacted finance svp, liked a LinkedIn post Alan Stein mocking the hypocrisy of corporate culture. So being svp and making millions wasn’t good enough? She parroted rhetoric for years, contributed to an organizational structure full of overlap and chaos, and now bites the hand that fed her millions on her way out.

There was Corporate loyalty back in the 50's, 60's & 70's.

All that went out the door when AT&T and IBM began massive layoffs that lasted into the 2000's.

This isn’t a romantic relationship where people expect loyalty. It’s a corporation and employees are just numbers. There’s no such thing as loyalty either way. People claiming they dedicated their life and sweat to Verizon are foolish, you have been collecting paychecks you weren’t working for free and if the company isn’t doing well then you should expect layoffs. I don’t understand why people are using words such as loyalty, commitment, sacrifice…etc

You call it coping, I call it maturity. Some people don’t need to drag the whole room down just because they’re hurting. Not everyone processes things with a pitchfork.
