Human Race
5 People let go. 4 white males, 1 white female. Only 1 white left in a group of 50.
@OP Does it really matter? The man shafted all of us.
Indian and laid off lol
@c5 And don't forget the Caste system
30 year old single childless white woman. I know for me it all came down to how much my boss valued each team member, saved his friends and I didn’t have a strong connection with him. I worked my a-s off and he knew that. We didn’t have anything against each other but he had stronger bonds with other team members. It’s all politics.
I’m white and the layoff train hit me lol
@a8 Verizon is not half Indian. For race/ethnicity demographic data, retrieve the latest (2024) EEO-1 report.[1] The VZ U.S. employee base is more than 50% white (male/female). It stands to reason that the white demographic would have more impacted.
@ad even if all 13K laid off were white, VZ would still be ”heavily” white. Unfortunately, Verizon collects the EEO-1 report data in October, then sends the data to the EEOC in June. We may not see the effects of this layoff until 2027, unless VZ waits to send the post layoff data.

@ad Of course it was racist. Why mention Indians alone or at all?
(S)He could have asked, if you got laid off and would like to share your race, please post. Instead (s)he mentioned Indian's specifically. This is racists, because in his/her mind, (s)he thinks more whites got laid off and not as many Indians. What if more Indian's got laid off than Whites, would that have satisfied his/her curiosity?
The layoffs weren't about race or age. It was and is about the US economy. And many corporations have to layoff employees to survive and meet shareholder expectation else the share price will decline. And AI is making a different in technology but also the labor force. This is just reality, no matter what your age or race.
@ab I don’t think op was necessarily being racist
There was another thread about ages
Verizon is very heavily Indian so one would expect the percentages that work there would reflect who was laid off
Indian origin , SD , laid off. Top performer ( rated by a non Indian boss). Hope that makes you sleep better and realize that this is not about race.
@OP This is the stupid's post ever. Have you looked at the world population? There are over 3 Billion Chinese and Indian's in the world. Not only you, but all future generations better get used to Chinese and Indian's. If you don't, you'll be the losers in the world. Your racism doesn't belong in this world. Besides, we are all humans and came from the same mother and father and living thing. Learn some science. Educate yourself, and perhaps your racist remarks my go away cause your brain cells will finally be educated and perhaps you'll be more open minded.
Instead, use your time to find another job. Don't blame the layoffs on anyone accept the 1% at the top who control everything. TACO is in office. Go talk to him about this economy.
My team with 3 Indians and 1 Black were laid off.
Yes there were. I know of 7 that are from India with 3 holding H1B visas. People of color were let go. The layoff was Dan's way of converting the company into a startup. He wants to relive his startup days at employees expense.
Verizon is half Indian
Let's not make this a race thing. From the ones that have been up front with it so far it is a mix of all races, male and female.
White 45 19 years of service. Last day 2/20/26
Im white
The two other people in my group that were axed are white and Asian(non Indian)
Verizon has always been white at the top…so, oh well.
Lot of white guys over 40
