Let this be a strong reminder to you.

You are an entry on a spreadsheet. Nothing more. Your work, attendance, team spirit, participation in HR childish buffoonery, none of it matters. None.

Give the least amount of effort possible, and when you decide to walk for a different/better job because you no longer expect to spend a decade or more at one company, just walk out. No two weeks, no notice, nothing. Just a note and your all your equipment in a box.

You. Owe. Them. NOTHING.

@a3 Agree on the mid years. My spouse’s company completely got rid of performance evaluations, since they were a waste of time.

You owe them what they require in exchange for a paycheck and benefits. Grow up. There are NO companies that offer lifetime employment anymore.

You always have to look out for yourself. No company really cares about you. Always do what’s best for you. Keep your résumé, updated and be ready to jump ship for a better opportunity.Don’t have any loyalty because that company you’re working so hard for can lay you off in an instant and up end your life.

To everyone that takes this advice, this is the best way to the unemployment route in this economy. This isint just Verizon. It’s corporate America. If you think you could work for a different fortune company and get treated like a human being then you’re beyond delusional.

Thinking about the mid year/annual reviews.. it’s such a joke. It means nothing at the end of the day. They try to act like your reviews are so important.. for what?!
