Thread regarding Ricoh layoffs

Company outlook

Does anyone truly know what this company‘s plan is as a long-term employee? I question this myself. There seems to be no career path no talk about company status. Very slow at releasing new equipment very poor at supporting direct operations. It just seems like nobody cares about anything anymore internally. I would think with the right people in the right places in upper management things would change drastically, but have been stagnant and a shame for a while.

Run them out of town. Don’t buy Ricoh products.

My service position was eliminated after 37 1/2 years! I was planning on retiring in a few years, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise! I landed a great job that respected my field service experience with far better pay! I wished Ricoh had laid me off years before! The grass IS greener, if your not actively looking to leave Ricoh, you should be! I wasted way to many years in this dying industry.

The entire industry is a mess. Xerox is tanking, Canon is slow, KM is bare bones. They're definitely trying to pivot to more cost cutting and automation/AI. Not sure that they are any good at it though.
This is the reality of a mature industry that services a constantly reducing need. Print numbers are down everywhere and no matter how much they want to be a "services" company they are a manufacturer at heart. They also just quietly sold off the IT services division without notifying anyone. Their move to cyber was cheap and half hearted and this is the case for almost everything they do. If they could push it all onto the dealers they would but they don't trust them, rightly so.

A wise move would be to plan to get out over the next couple of years.

Never a bad review in over 40 years of service. My "position was eliminated" April 1st. Once you start earning a liveable wage your employment is in peril. It seems to me that they are winding down direct operations and shifting everything to dealers .

I had 33 years and my position was "eliminated" If you haven't started looking for a different job you better start. I am surprised they still have a service department.

After knowing people who worked for Pitney Bowes and Danka. I saw the steps they we taking as they were winding down operations. There seems to be many similarities in the way Ricoh is currently operating. Honestly I don't know why people stick around, you need to be planning your next step before it is done for you.

@OP The plan for long term employees is to get riffed april 1st.
I can personally attest to that. After 15 years as a great employee my position was "eliminated" you will always be nothing but a number at Ricoh. absolutely no loyalty to their employees. The bottom line is their only concern.
