I wanted to share my experience after layoff while I am interviewing for jobs. In summary it is terrible to look for job after one is laid off as ever interview is starting with same question. One interviewer asked if I knew it was coming? I replied - I was one of the most responsible engineers and was working really hard until I was laid off so it was indeed surprised.
I got the impression that they were telling me how I could not see that coming? What made me stay until I was laid off? Why I did not make a decision in time?

I'm sorry. This "layoff shaming" could be a little trick to make you feel insecure and steer into accepting a low ball offer.
This is not your fault!
Thank your manager! They fd u! But do not tell them where you end up etc. globalfoundries mgt are known to call new employers
I felt the same in my interview. Wished I was awake in time and looking for job while I was still on roll. This is eye opening experience for me as I kept waiting to be laid off and did not react in time as I was under impression that I will survive again. This really put me in very precarious situation.
You don’t have to tell them you were laid off as you are still employed and they won’t say you were laid off. I do share just so I don’t get caught in lies
I’ve had no negative feedback on the layoff during my interview and subsequent employment offers. You can always lie and tell them your position was offshored to the Singapore fab. They have no way of verifying this in NYS, as GF can not divulge any information by law, beyond your employment dates, position and weather you left voluntarily or by resource action. Word is out that GF is a rotten place to work and that they just did a big layoff. I accepted another job 3 weeks after I was laid off. Still getting paid by GF until March. Good luck 👍
Do you think it’s because it’s Globalfoundries? A stigma because you are combing from GF? Globalfoundries definitely has a reputation out there. I have heard of some recruiters who refuse to even entertain resumes with Globalfoundries on them in previous employment.
