Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I hope those of you at VZ are watching Joe's all hands

Love that he kept the meeting and is actually addressing the issues (well, sort of). Still, much better than all the "leaders" who are simply hiding and too chicken to talk to their employees (like Kyle or Shankar)

@ad assuming that they align well and can focus on doing less and executing higher value initiatives better, that could be great.

Depends on who is leading it. If it's Shankar or Vivek, then it's going to be terrible.

Dude.. the company has a serious issue with biased hiring. You see an indian EVP, all VP under him/her will be idian and so on.. our entire AI&D org is indian.. same thing for Arabs, but not to same extent.

These guys have no idea how to run this business. This feels like the press conferences where the NY Jets announce a new Manager. Lots of hope for the future but the fan base knows better. This ship hit the iceberg when we bought out Vodafone and we have been taking on water ever since. Verizon is going the way of Sears.

He said RIFS - to come over the next days and Weeks- yes weeks. Great so we are talking about waves of more unknowns….. great for moral and wonderful strategy Dan-

Sprint 2.0 here we come…… same strategy as Sprint. Verizon is talks to outsource its Wireless network operations to a managed service provider.

Lots of talk.... But nothing that really matters to the majority of rank and file. Waste of time

And there we go - more information that no one had confirmed before.
No level up, no promotions this year, no information when we'll get the next round of promotions.
I'm guessing none in 2026 as we'll have a second round of layoffs in Q2. I mean, except of course VP to SVP and SVP to EVP... those have never been part of Level Up

He's saying what he can. He won't risk his job and go against Dan's timeline. But he provides so much more detail. "days if maybe weeks" until you all know more (he didn't quite say "a week from right now"). He talked about RIFs not VSP. He talked about all the other cost cutting. He explicitly mentioned contractors.
I understand that people are scared and have to hate on leaders. But this is an actual leader doing his job. Ask yourself how many of the other EVPs are doing this.
