Thread regarding Accenture layoffs

Julie needs Cash Flow

This is 100%. The layoff is not because AI is magically changing things, or because clients need less work. The nature of work is changing, projects are smaller and more focused. But, behind all of this is the need for free cashflow which can be achieved through higher sales (not going to happen) or cut in expenses (it's happening right now). She needs cash to finance AI infrastructure build out, and the only way to find the $$$ is to cut people. She has no other options (ok, she can go in debt, but that's always bad). So, she's repeating the same thing that AWS (30K cuts), MSFT (25K cuts), META (20K Cuts) and others are doing.

I wish all of us good luck.

@OP Accenture has always used Head Count as their ATM. This is always their routine. Don't waste your life there. It's much better outside.

@ch Yea, many Accentures that were so badly treated by HR during one of those mass recovery periods, so the MDs and Julie could get their million dollar bonuses and stock awards went to work in gov or contract adjacent. How bout that. Memory is very long indeed and they give no thought to who might be on the other side of that contract in a blink and their ability to make decisions for years to come!

The main issue is that Accenture lost billions of dollars after several of its federal contracts were canceled. To stay afloat, the company now has to lay off thousands of employees. Their focus on AI seems more like an excuse to justify these cuts rather than the real cause behind them.
