Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Greener grass is a thing of the past

Don't be so excited at the prospect of being laid off or leaving. I know Intel is far from ideal but at this point in time, there is no such thing as "greener grass." The tech sector is in disarray. Everybody is laying off and some are outright firing people. Benefits are being cut, raises are ridiculously low, and hiring is at an all-time low. Intel might not be perfect, but I fear more what I might have to face if I'm laid off than staying here. At least for now.

The politicians are gaming us all. First, they grant Intel a huge tax credit to build fabs. Next they pass 15% minimum tax, negating the credit they just gave Intel.

Did you ever stop to figure out how any company pays less then 15% tax? It is by way of tax deductions or credits that the government granted. Go look at Intel's financial statements, they have been under the 15% minimum effective tax rate in many years.

USA makes the Roman empire in it's final years look brilliant.

The fed is intentionally destroying the jobs market to curb inflation, and it is working. This is not a political stance, anyone with any economic or business background knows the impact of raising interest rates and so aggressively curbing the giveaway of trillions of dollars. You cannot insert trillions of dollars into an economy to fix something. What people really haven't considered is how devastating the global minimum tax will be on US manufacturing jobs. How can US companies compete in such an environment?

@OP... You make your own future, and you are the ultimate driver of your destiny. You have to create the opportunities and build your own success no matter where you are or who you work for. if there are no more tech jobs then do something else and reinvert yourself.

You will be always destined to failure with that type of mentality.

Good luck!
