The amount of idiocy on this thread is astounding.
@OP A tax credit is simply government spending routed through the tax code instead of a check. Whether it’s a mortgage interest deduction, a child tax credit, a business credit, or an Affordable Care Act premium tax credit, the effect is identical — the government collects less revenue or pays out more. That’s a subsidy, plain and simple.
Until we confront this double standard, our debates about taxes and social programs will remain less about economics — and more about who we believe deserves dignity.
Healthcare is not accessible without government tax credit to enroll to any health plans.
Yes insurance companies make money. That is the system we have. #single-payer system is better and cheaper.
Please do away with subsidies. Yea- UHG stands to lose millions and millions. And hence they will lose enrollment of those members. Can’t wait to see how many more employees they will have to let go just to make up the difference for their investors.
It may be chaper for an encounter, but have fun getting meds or having an opporation without insurance. Medical debt is real for the uninsurned and underinsured.
Good idea isn’t it! Insurance is a scam. Talk to your clinic about going to cash payments and watch the cost of your healthcare plummet. Without insurance however you do have to put money away just incase but that money will make you more money if invested instead of just pouring money into the black pit known as United Healthcare as the only people making money here are the executives and shareholders.
Unsure, but I know over 150 people in my area are going to cash pay as it is cheaper for them.
Who is to say that they will take the money and sign up for a plan? Maybe they just take the money. Then we all pay for uncompensated care.
